Inspired by the golden era of skateboarding, the early 90s and early 2000, Session's primary goal is to make you experience what skateboarding really is; an incredible sport where there are no other goals other than expressing your creativity and achieving success through hard work, perseverance and bits of madness for no one else other than yourself.
Sporting dual stick controls that mirror the movement of each foot, executing tricks feels as intuitive as it would in your local park, serving up the most authentic-feeling skateboarding in a video game. Included in the demo is a tutorial and outdoor skatepark to get you started. Will it be tough at first? Yeah. Will you fall face-first down a flight of stairs? Who hasn’t? It’s all about the journey, so when you land that first kickflip out of a grind, you’ll feel invincible!
So, what’s Session all about? Just like skateboarding IRL, it’s about the freedom to express yourself. Whether you’re all about perfecting that one elusive move, or have a sick line planned out for your next tape, you set your own goals in Session. Progression simply comes from honing your street chops. But what are skills if you can’t show them off to the rest of the world? With Session, creā-ture offers up the tools needed to create and share your tightest content with skaters around the world.
Whether you have no idea what goofy and mongo mean, or have a laser flip or two under your belt, Session’s here to remind you why you fell in love with the sport or give you a reason to fall for the first time (again, literally).
After a month of kickflips, campaigning and generally going buck-wild on all manner of stairs, rails and boxes, Session has successfully blown away its kickstarter funding goal, raising a total of $163,716 CAD (204.6% of its initial $80,000 goal). Not only does this allow the team at crea-ture Studios to make Sessionbigger and better than ever as they ride into 2018, but it means they also reached their much-sought-after vert skating stretch goal!
Bringing in modern skating icon and five-time X Games medalist, Elliot Sloan, crea-ture Studios is set to give players even more ways to skate in the new year. Not only will the vert update offer up mini-ramps, mega-ramps and motion capture courtesy of Elliot himself, but the team’s been hard at work perfecting reverts for buttery-smooth line transitions. More ways to skate, more ways for players to express themselves in the park.
Speaking of parks, to celebrate the end of Session’s crowdfunding campaign, crea-ture Studios has made a new and improved skatepark available to backers: Indoor Park v2. Originally shown off in early gameplay footage as an indoor alternative to the demo’s jail yard setting, the team has since rebuilt this park from the ground up and relocated it to a giant hanger, making for a skater’s paradise. From its raised rails, to its kinked boxes, Indoor Park v2 offers up a ton of space for players to get creative and set up all-new lines.
That’s not all skateboard fans have to look forward to in the early months of 2018, though, as the team at crea-ture Studios has a whole host of surprises and skateable content planned. Setting itself apart as the most authentic skateboarding game ever, crowdfunding was only the beginning for Session. From its first pro skater, to new parks and ways to skate, grab your deck and tighten those trucks, because Session is happening!
Session’s Kickstarter is now complete, with the game planned to launch into Early Access on PC and Xbox One in Q2 2018.
Key Features:
- No scoring system: Focus on what skateboard really is! If a handrail inspires you to do a backside lipslide, then so be it!
- Dual stick controls: Each stick controls a foot to replicate authentic and intuitive skateboarding motions.
- Filmer mode: Go online with friends, be the filmer and grab the gnarliest, crispiest footy you can, the way you want!
- Play a movie: VHS-like checkpoint system. Rewind, Forward, Skip, Pause, Play your scene, replay and re-skate them until you’re proud of it.
- Skate and destroy: Embrace street skating as you read your environment and exploit it in any way you can imagine. Cities aren’t built for skaters, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be skated.
