Based on their decisions and actions, players can become a lawman, an outlaw or a pioneer exploring the Western Frontier. The game features a bevy of content, including world exploration, resource gathering, PvP combat, PvE game missions, treasure hunts and much more.

Online multiplayer Western game Wild West Online launches into Closed Alpha today as a series of closed tests.

From these initial tests, the developer will gather player feedback to shape the future of Wild West Online, ensure server stability and test that the game systems are working as intended. Players interested in getting a slice of the game in Closed Alpha can purchase Wild West Online at the official website.

During the multi-week Closed Alpha timeframe, players will experience a “Gold Rush” setting gameplay style. In this release, most activities will focus on finding gold, mining it from streams and rock deposits and grouping with other players to establish mining camps before then transporting hard-earned gold to towns to be sold for in-game currency. Throughout the process players must beware of outlaws – other players who have chosen to play as bandits that will ambush, kill and steal gold from hard working prospectors. Players can also embark on exploratory explorations in search of treasure loot chests and rare plants that can be used to craft medical remedies. Throughout the game players can upgrade their weapons, tools and unlock new cosmetic items.

“Rather than present ‘Alpha Early Access’ as a fully functional product that still has a multitude of bugs and needs more time to reach stability, we are instead using the term 'Alpha' in a more traditional way” said Executive Producer Stephan Bugaj. “This is a rough version of what the game will be, but it's not a fully scoped game.  We're giving players a glimpse at what the game will be, as well a chance to directly influence our development process by giving feedback in response to a true game Alpha. We want to hear constructive feedback and work with our community to build a game that can be enjoyed for many years to come.”

Key Features:

• Become an Outlaw, Deputy or Anyone You Want – In Wild West Online players are free to choose their own path. How they play the game and how they interact with other players is up to them. Based on their actions they will either become a lawman or an outlaw. If a player becomes too “lawless” a bounty will be placed on their head and it will be open season. Don’t want to be either? Players can pick a different path such as farming the land, becoming a miner or exploring the world.
• An Expansive Western World – Wild West Online will launch with a large map featuring wilderness, settler encampments, lone farms, small settlements, large towns, train stations, gang hideouts, landmarks – and bizarre uncharted places of an "unknown nature" that curious explorers will be drawn to seek out.
• Intense PvP Combat – Experience the dangers of the West with intense PvP combat that will make Tombstone look tame. Players are much safer in towns since attacking other players is punishable there, but in a wild there are no laws. When a player dies, they only lose “quest items” - mined gold, recovered artifacts and other items required for some quests. All other items remain with the player.
• PvE Missions and Activities – Take on bounties, farm, mine, sell goods, gather resources and more, in Wild West Online there is no shortage of activities to do.
• Form a Posse – Players can group with up-to eight friends to form a posse. It’s then up to them if they want to gain a reputation as bandits or tame the West as deputies.
• Light Crafting – Wild West Online features some light crafting where players will need to learn recipes and forage for supplies or convert looted items into materials to craft necessities.
