'Monster Hunter: World' (ALL) Shows Off Astera, Gets Release Date, Pre-Order Incentive, Deluxe Editions - Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 19, 2017 @ 1:50 a.m. PDT

Monster Hunter: World sees players take on the role of a hunter who completes various quests to hunt and slay monsters within a living and breathing ecosystem full of predators ... and prey.

Monster Hunter: World introduces a living, breathing ecosystem in which players take on the role of a hunter that seeks and slays ferocious beasts in heart-pounding battles that unfold across the vast ever-changing terrain. Venture on quests alone or with up to three hunters in a newly designed online drop-in multiplayer system which allows cross-region cooperative play between Japan and the west, uniting the player base for the first time ever.

Retaining the series’ skill based progression and robust crafting system, players gear up to venture on quests to seek and slay monsters, progressively improving their skills to become the ultimate hunter. Loot collected from fallen foes can be used to create new equipment and armor upgrades styled after the monsters they’ve slain, allowing hunters to survive the elements and defeat the tougher opponents that await them.

Monster Hunter: World delivers a seamless gameplay experience allowing players to move freely across map areas that comprise the living ecosystems and dynamically transition from day to night. The landscape and its diverse inhabitants play a critical role in each quest as players strategically use the surrounding environment including terrain, vegetation and wildlife to their advantage in battle or become hindered by the hazards they present. Hunters must use their cunning and abilities to track and maneuver their targets throughout the intense, evolving battles.

Capcom confirmed that Monster Hunter: World will be available for PS4 and Xbox One globally on January 26, 2018. A PC release will follow at a later date.

Capcom will also begin pre-orders today including bonus incentives for the standard version of the game or the newly announced Digital Deluxe and physical Collector’s editions.

The TGS trailer shows the wild and wonderful variety of creatures featured in the game, from the lizard-like Pukei-Pukei with its extending tongue, to the terrifying monster Nergigante. The beautiful but dangerous Coral Highlands stage was also unveiled – don’t stand around too long gazing at the gorgeous scenery or risk ending up as monster fodder! Players have a wide variety of gear to assist them in navigating the fantastical environments in the game, including the Glider mantle. You can use this to extend your air-time after a jump and, as seen in the new trailer, in some areas, you may even be able to catch a lift on a rising wind draft to quickly reach higher ground.

Players that pre-order Monster Hunter: World in North America on either Xbox One or PS4 either digitally or at participating retailers will receive access to special pre-order bonuses, including the Origin Set Armor and the Fair Wind Charm talisman*, which offer improved starting defense and offense stat boosts for the hunter as well as a useful gathering skill. For those that pre-order any digital version from the PS Store, they will also receive instant access to a custom PS4 theme. Please note that the Origin Set armor and Fair Wind Charm talisman may be made available through alternative means at a later date.

The newly announced Digital Deluxe Edition for North America is MSRP $69.99 and includes the digital game, plus additional customizable options that can be used in-game: a Samurai Set skin, three gestures, two sticker sets, plus an extra face paint and hair style option for the hunter. The PS4 version of the Digital Deluxe Edition also includes 14 weapon-themed PSN avatars. The contents for the Digital Deluxe Edition will also be available for purchase separately on January 26.

The North American physical Collector’s Edition includes a physical copy of the game, voucher for the additional customizable options from the Digital Deluxe Edition (a Samurai Set skin, three gestures, two sticker sets, plus an extra face paint and hair style option for the hunter), a 32 page hardcover art book, high-quality flagship monster statue, and digital soundtrack code all bundled in a custom collector’s box for MSRP $149.99.

With flexible online multiplayer options and an accessible quest structure, players can tackle challenges alone or join up to three other hunters online for cooperative play. For the first time in the Monster Hunter series, players from Japan and the west can play together online, providing an expanded base of cooperative hunting companions. With the new online drop-in functionality, solo players can hail for assistance from the worldwide group during quests when their opponents are too daunting to take on single-handedly.

Monster Hunter: World comes to PS4 and Xbox One in January 26, 2018, with a PC release to follow at a later date.
