Originally launched in 2006 for the PS2 and known for introducing many landmark features to the Final Fantasy series, Final Fantasy XII takes place in the grand world of Ivalice, where the small kingdom of Dalmasca is left in ruin and uncertainty.
Princess Ashe, the one and only heir to the throne, devotes herself to the resistance to liberate her country. Vaan, a young man who lost his family in the war, dreams of flying freely in the skies. In a fight for freedom and fallen royalty, join these unlikely allies and their companions as they embark on a heroic adventure to free their homeland.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age features the world of Ivalice like never before with enhanced high-definition graphics and for the first time ever, western audiences will be able to experience the Zodiac Job System, a 12-job character progression system first introduced in the Japan-only release, Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac System. The title will also feature a remastered soundtrack, 7.1-surround sound, an auto-save feature, faster loading times, a new Trial Mode and more.
Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age on PC will release with all of the modern advancements and features available in the PS4 version, such as latest-generation visuals, a remastered soundtrack, new Speed and Trial modes, fast forward function, and many other enhanced features.
The following new features will also be added for PC users:
- 60FPS - Ivalice will look better than ever with the game running at 60FPS.
- Compatible with 21:9 ultra-wide monitors - Up to three HD monitors can be used for a potential 48(16x3):9 experience.
- New Game Plus and New Game Minus - Post-game content modes are now accessible from the beginning of the game.
- Three background music options – The original, re-orchestrated and soundtrack versions are now available from the beginning of the game.
- Maximized License Points and Gil - New functionality added to grant players max License Points and Gil from the configuration screen.
- Full controller support, Steam Trading Cards and more to optimize the PC player experience.
Fans can learn more about the new features the PC version has to offer during special launch program on Thursday, February 2nd at 12:00 a.m. Pacific, where Producer Hiroaki Kato and Director Takashi Katano will answer questions presented by Final Fantasy fans on Twitter. Viewers can tune into the program, complete with English subtitles, on the Square Enix YouTube channel.
Square Enix has also unveiled a brand-new Collector’s Edition for the game, available now for pre-order exclusively from the Square Enix Online Store for $149.99. The Collector’s Edition features an official Collector’s Edition Steelbook with the original soundtrack, a five-piece Judge Masters Bust Set, six-card art set and a digital download code for the game.
Fans that purchase the game through Steam within the first week of launch will also receive a 20% discount, a three-track digital music compilation and a new Steam Skin illustrated by famed Final Fantasy artist Isamu Kamikokuryo.
The Gambit System is the ground-breaking combat system which utilizes customizable AI “gambits” to let players to adapt to any situation during battle. Players can also freely develop their characters and tactics with the all-new Zodiac Job System, which allows each character to battle as two of 12 unique and beloved jobs.
The high-definition remaster introduces several modern advancements, including reconstructed battle design and a revamped job system. With newly implemented trophies and share functions, as well as stark visual and sound improvements in true HD for the first time, players both returning and new to the game will experience a grand adventure that spans the world of Ivalice in an entirely fresh and improved way.
