Descenders throws players into the high-octane world of downhill biking, where every jump, whip and scrub will earn Rep points for you and your team - but with the risk that you might lose it all with just one badly timed landing.
A fully-fledged physics system allows players to string together incredible trick combos and Rep points, as you make your way down the mountain and attempt to reach the bottom unscathed.
Procedurally generated worlds mean that no two runs are ever the same, and players will have to build their skill and keep their eyes on the prize if they want to lead their team to glory, and become the next legendary Descender.
Descenders will launch on Steam Early Access starting February 9 for PC, Mac and Linux at $24.99/£19.49/22.99 euros, and will remain in Early Access for 6-9 months.
“Descenders is already a sizeable, solid experience in its current form -- if we hadn't labelled it Early Access, you might think it was already the complete package! Because this is a game with a strong community focus, we want to bring players in to help shape the final direction in which we take development of the game. Early Access allows us to take feedback from our players, and build on the features and content that our community truly wants.”
“Throughout Early Access we plan to build on top of the current experience and inject more features, including content and social elements, as well as providing players with more unlockables and secrets to discover. We're talking new bikes, kits, worlds, tweaks, tricks, and more.”
“As mentioned, Descenders is already a big game -- you'll find a breadth of features from day one, including a full single-player experience from start to finish, a dense rep/levelling system, unlockable kits and bikes, online leaderboards and competitions, unlockable shortcuts, team sponsorships, and a whole lot more.”
“The community will consistently drive the evolution of Descenders -- community feedback is the entire reason why we've chosen to label the game "Early Access". With each new update to the game, we'll be watching what the community is asking for and desires, and we'll be working with our players to make Descenders as great as it can be.”
Grab your bike, pick your team, and attempt to live up to the legend of your Descender. Will you join the die-hard, trick-frenzy ranks of Team Enemy, the proficient, off-road stylings of Team Arboreal, or the high-octane, speed-is-everything Team Kinetic?
Apart from wearing your team's colors with pride, players will also receive exclusive gear from their team, and can earn special prizes if their team is top of the leaderboards at the end of each month.
Meanwhile, players will be able to hang out with their team-mates in the Descenders Overworld, practicing tricks together and checking the team leaderboards, before heading out to watch each other's runs.
