XSEED Games to Release Four 'Corpse Party' Titles On PC In The Next Few Months

by Rainier on Oct. 16, 2018 @ 10:18 a.m. PDT

XSEED Games will be publishing four titles from the cult favorite Corpse Party series between now and through winter 2018.

It takes two to tango, but it takes four to have a proper (Corpse) Party!

Corpse Party: Book of Shadows will be the first, escaping the small screen of the PSP system for a Windows PC launch via Steam, GOG, and Humble Store by Humble Bundle on October 29, just in time for Halloween. It will be priced at $14.99/€14.99/£12.99 with a launch week discount of 10%.

Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash and the first chapter of Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient will also be coming to PC for the first time later this winter, with Corpse Party: Blood Drive rounding out the lineup by making the leap from the PlayStation Vita to PC before the season is out.

Corpse Party: Book of Shadows

An anthology of short stories set before, during, and after the first Corpse Party – in the canon universe, as well as in several Wrong End timelines – Corpse Party: Book of Shadows takes players through a series of events in which students, teachers, and associated family and friends from Kisaragi Academy, Byakudan Senior High, Paulownia High, and Musashigawa Middle School succumb to the curse of Heavenly Host Elementary in new and unique ways. These events include numerous what-if scenarios where characters make different choices than they did in Corpse Party, resulting in a deeper understanding of who they are and how they think. As the game’s terror-inducing story reaches its final chapter, players will also learn more about the mysterious tome known as the “Book of Shadows,” which may be the linchpin behind everything that’s happened thus far and all the horror still to come. It becomes more essential than ever that the characters be kept safe during these adventures, too: as their fears rise, they become more unstable, causing their view of the world around them and the choices they make to become distorted and disturbed through the newly introduced “Darkening” system. All of this is added on top of gripping first-person point-and-click style gameplay that pairs with the series’ trademark 3D binaural audio to help bring players directly into the action like never before.

Corpse Party: Book of Shadows will be published digitally for Windows PC by XSEED Games via Steam, GOG, and Humble Store by Humble Bundle on October 29 for $14.99/€14.99/£12.99 with a launch week discount of 10%.

Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash

The missing link in the Corpse Party saga, now coming to English-speaking audiences officially for the very first time! Sachiko Shinozaki, the vengeful spirit responsible for the deaths of countless children and adults alike, is turning 7 again (being dead, she never truly ages), and is thus graciously granting her victims 24 hours of amnesty so they can serve as guests at her birthday party. However, if these party-goers thought that Sachiko’s shindig was going to be all fun and games, they thought wrong: Sachiko has invited everyone—including many of the poor souls she’s already killed—to participate in various activities for her amusement, with an overarching (yet heavily twisted) theme of “romantic comedy.” This game of “ship or die” takes the Corpse Party universe in a totally new direction, but the hellish outcome for these poor, unfortunate students remains the same…

Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash will be published digitally for Windows PC by XSEED Games in winter 2018.

Corpse Party: Blood Drive

The disturbing events that the survivors of Kisaragi Academy’s class 2-9 encountered in the previous titles are theirs alone to mourn, since all memories and records of those lost in the halls of Heavenly Host have been wiped from the face of the earth. Only the power contained within the pages of the Book of Shadows could reverse this miserable fate, but that book was forever lost in the chaos of previous events—and the life of yet another innocent victim was lost with it. Obsessed with figuring out a way to bring her friends back, Ayumi thus returns to Heavenly Host following a tip that leads her to believe the Book of Shadows still resides within. Will Ayumi be successful in this last-ditch attempt to redeem her past mistakes, or will she further compound her failures and doom even more to fall under the curse of the Everafter?

Corpse Party: Blood Drive will be published digitally for Windows PC by XSEED Games in winter 2018.

Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient

Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient takes players on a dark and mysterious journey alongside a partially amnesiac high school student named Ayame Itou, as well as any other friendly faces she may come across. Through the deserted halls of a hospital called Amare Patriarcha Crucis, the party will solve inventory-based puzzles, collect medical charts of deceased patients, and avoid terrifying zombie-like pursuers in order to find much-needed answers, as well as—hopefully—a way out. Titled Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient NEUES in Japan, this is the definitive version of Dead Patient’s first chapter, with updated graphics and additional scenarios not present in the game’s original Japanese release, as well as the first Extra Chapter for fans looking to see a few familiar faces from previous titles. Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient exists as a standalone story within the Corpse Party series, allowing players to jump in regardless of their experience with past titles. Future chapters will be released episodically as they are completed by the original developers at Team GrisGris.

Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient will be published digitally for Windows PC by XSEED Games, starting in winter 2018
