'Osiris: New Dawn' (ALL) Reveals Roadmap To Launch, Showing Off at TwitchCon

by Rainier on Oct. 19, 2018 @ 8:56 a.m. PDT

Osiris: New Dawn is a space exploration survival game that combines crafting, exploration, and skillful combat while you explore an alien system and colonize worlds of incredible wonders and unforgiving dangers.

Osiris astronauts will experience the thrill and terror of colonizing alien worlds of unbelievable beauty and unforgiving dangers. Osiris: New Dawn players explore an alien planet for valuable resources, build modular structures to create a base, research technology to create equipment and vehicles, survive the ever-changing weather elements, face-off against cunning indigenous creatures, form colonies with other gamers, and travel off the planet to destinations great and unknown.

As part of the second colonization team sent by the U.N.E. (United Nations of Earth) to study planets for potential Earth re-population, the spacecraft malfunctions, braking violently from light speed and forcing an emergency landing on the planet’s surface. To survive, players must overcome the dangers of unpredictable weather conditions by building a central base, expanding the structure further with modular units to grow food, creating research centers, manufacturing bays and uncovering the dark events behind the missing Osiris-1 team that threatens the overall mission.

Osiris: New Dawn offers a vast, beautiful game that uniquely combines inventive crafting, curious exploration, and skillful combat.

Fenix Fire Entertainment and Reverb Triple XP announced the unveiling of new major features for the Version 1.0 launch of Osiris: New Dawn will be demonstrated at TwitchCon 2018.

From the intense playable intro sequence, re-tuned combat/grapple system, space walking mechanics, and greatly expanded narrative experience, gamers and sci-fi fans will experience the new thrills and terrors of colonizing alien worlds in the unforgiving dangers of space.

The Osiris: New Dawn booth is located at booth#1532 in the San Jose Convention Center during TwitchCon 2018 from October 26 - 28.

For the past few months, our team has been heads down refactoring code, updating to a newer version of Unity and doing optimization passes that will drastically improve the core game. We’ve also been interviewing and hiring new team members who have extensive AAA experience and impressive track records in the gaming industry. Our team has grown from two to twenty-three members since its launch in September, 2016. We are investing time, resources, and money into making Osiris: New Dawn a game that we can be proud of and that the community will enjoy playing.

Because we now have new senior team members, we have reviewed the core game many times, making major decisions about what the game needs in order to meet our expectations. This, in addition to the code refactoring, etc… meant that many things needed to be looked at in-depth, discussed, and decided upon. As is such, we have not been able to share a roadmap that gives the community an idea of when and where we are headed. Things have needed to remain fluid in order to avoid making promises that we may later be unable to deliver on. While we understand that the community craves information and uses it to keep faith in the development of the game and our company, we knew that giving even estimated dates would not have been wise until we knew internally what that roadmap exactly looked like, and that it would be one that we would feel confident in.

We are happy to report that we are now at a point where we feel confident in sharing some plans that we have for the game, and timeframes of when they will be delivered. We have created a high-level roadmap, highlighting major events that we have planned over the next few quarters. Please keep in mind that this is high level, meaning that not every tent pole will have an exact date. We are aiming for the given dates and/or time periods, but things may still change if need be. If something does change, it will be communicated to our community.

Our Roadmap

October 26-28, 2018:

The Fenix Fire team will be heading to TwitchCon to showcase a playable demo of Osiris: New Dawn’s new story campaign. Attendees will be able to meet some of our team members and play through a slice of what our campaign will be for 1.0 launch.

If you can’t make it to TwitchCon don’t worry, as the playable demo will be released in the Behind the Scenes Experiences branch of the game on October 29th.

December, 2018:

A Major Update to the base game will be released. This update will include three prongs:

Campaign mode - Players will be able to play the demo version of our new campaign mode, as showcased at TwitchCon. This demo will be moved over to the main branch for people who opt out of downloading the Behind the Scenes Experiences.

Survival Mode - In this mode your survival skills will be put to the test. Specifically in this update you will have multiple scenarios that you, alone or with friends, must tackle, achieve, and survive in order to succeed. The environments will be harsh and the creatures will be harsher. If you or your friends die or don’t achieve the goal, it’s Game Over, man!

Sandbox Mode - This is essentially the game that you have been playing all along, but with all the new systems (e.g., repair, traversal, combat, etc.) incorporated into the game. Unlike the Campaign and Survival modes, there are no missions to achieve. Instead, it’s about you, alone or with friends, surviving in the expansive planets within Gliese 581. For this update: you will have the classic mainstays of Proteus 2, Aziel, and Zer. But you will also be able to explore an entirely new planet as well.

Spring 2019:

Osiris: New Dawn version 1.0 launches!

With the 1.0 launch, you will have the full story Campaign, an even more robust list of objectives for Survival mode, and every planet in the game to explore in Sandbox mode.

The Fenix Fire developers have a robust roadmap for continuous content updates that will be added to the current core features that include[s]:

  • Light-Year Visual Difference: Experience the high quality graphics typically only found in AAA games. Osiris: New Dawn offers extreme texture detail and High Dynamic Range lighting, creating a frightening, yet gorgeous world. An advanced IK (inverse kinematics) system powers over 200 fluid player movements and a diverse range of terrifying alien creature animations.
  • Multiplayer Colonization: Work together with online players to build a prospering colony and together defend against threatening alien species while fighting to survive environmental phenomenon including meteor showers, and attacks from other online player colonies.
  • Survive, Craft, Research and Thrive: Gather resources and materials to adapt to the alien system, build modular structures to grow food, create manufacturing bays, research new technologies to upgrade gear and build new vehicles and droids, and explore the environment to discover new elements and secrets to expand and thrive in this alien world.
  • Explore the Planet and Beyond: Learn what wonders and horrors lie on the alien planet and explore underground dungeons for unique discoveries. In time, gamers will build spacecraft to launch into space and travel to other planets in the solar system.
  • Prepare for a Fight: Choose first or third person controls to hunt intelligent alien species with predatory instincts. Equip a variety of weapons to be prepared for any situation.

Osiris: New Dawn is currently available through Steam Early Access for $24.99.
