'Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition' (ALL) Gets Kage, Update, 2019 Capcom Pro Tour Details - Trailer

by Rainier on Dec. 16, 2018 @ 8:19 p.m. PST

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will include everything from the original release of SFV, along with the addition of brand new gameplay content, which will be free to existing players.

This new version will include everything from the original release of Street Fighter V, along with the addition of brand new gameplay-related content including Arcade Mode, Extra Battle Mode, new V-Trigger moves, Gallery, a completely redesigned User Interface and more.

Current Street Fighter V players will also receive all of this new content for free via an in-game update when Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition releases.

In addition to the Street Fighter V main game, the following content will be included in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition:

  • Arcade Mode
  • Extra Battle Mode
  • New V-trigger moves
  • Gallery
  • New User Interface
  • Season 1 DLC characters
  • Season 2 DLC characters

Content not available for free to current Street Fighter V players, but can be accessed using earned Fight Money or purchased in-game currency. For purchasers of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, this content will be redeemable via a download code token.

As Capcom Cup marks the end of one season and the start of another, Street Fighter Executive Producer Yoshinori Ono unveiled a new World Warrior will join the Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition roster: Kage, the embodiment of “Satsui,” a raging spirit that was born out of humanity’s obsession with power.

Kage, meaning “shadow,” is the physical embodiment of the evil spirit, “Satsui no Hado,” that could hypothetically overtake Ryu and turn him into the character Evil Ryu. Street Fighter V fans will recall Ryu overcame the “Satsui no Hado” in the General Story against Necalli, and regained control of his former self. “Satsui no Hado” is now back, and instead of overtaking Ryu’s body has now found a way to manifest into its own physical form.

Available today, Kage is the first new character coming to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition for the upcoming season  and is available for purchase today for both PS4 and Steam, for MSRP $5.99 / €5.99 / £4.99  or 100,000 Fight Money.

Also going live today, a downloadable update for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will bring balance changes for the rest of the 32 characters. Five of the characters - F.A.N.G, Vega, Chun-Li, Abigail, and M. Bison – will receive brand new moves to enhance their playstyle.

In addition to the updates to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Capcom announced that the Capcom Pro Tour (CPT), the company’s premier league for Street Fighter esports, will be returning for a 2019 season, with the first premier scheduled to take place at Final Round on March 15, 2019.

The full schedule and final rules for the 2019 Capcom Pro Tour season are expected to be released in early 2019.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will be the official game for the Capcom Pro Tour 2019 season.

In the upcoming Arcade Mode, players can reminisce in the Street Fighter series history as they celebrate the last 30 years of the multi-million selling franchise. Choose from six different paths and compete in matches against CPU opponents to reveal unique endings based on player performance. In Extra Battle Mode, a new series of time exclusive challenges will be available for players to use their Fight Money for the chance to receive an exclusive premium outfit each month. Complete all four challenges each month and receive a special premium costume exclusive to this mode. With extra challenges being added and more unannounced content on the way, Street Fighter V will continue to deliver new and refreshed content on a regular basis throughout 2018 and beyond. More details on the new modes and features, including the new User Interface, will be shared at a later date.

Current players of Street Fighter V and future owners of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will be placed into the same player pool, with PS4 and PC cross-platform play continuing to unite fans into a unified player base. The initial Street Fighter V purchase is still the only one that consumers need to make to ensure they always have the most up-to-date version of the title. All of the post launch gameplay content, such as the DLC characters in Street Fighter V, is earnable completely free of charge through completing various in-game challenges and receiving earned in-game currency, called Fight Money. For those who just can’t wait to unlock each piece of new content, content can also be obtained instantly using purchased in-game currency.

Season 2 of the 2017 Character Pass and DLC content for Street Fighter V continues until the end of the year, with one final character still to be announced and released, along with a host of additional costumes. Stay tuned to the official Street Fighter channels for all of the latest news.

In North America and Europe, the new version will be available physically and digitally on PlayStation 4 and as a digital download on Windows PC for $39.99 MSRP. For European pricing, please check with local retailers.

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is currently available for the PS4 and PC.
