'Chroma Squad' (ALL) Update Adds Editor and Steam Workshop Support

by Rainier on Feb. 23, 2018 @ 4:58 p.m. PST

In Chroma Squad you will manage an indie Japanese superhero TV studio, casting actors, purchasing equipment, crafting weapons and giant Mechas out of cardboard and glue to create your own TV show.

Once the cameras are rolling, players will control their cast of five colored-jumpsuit-clad warriors in dramatic, turn-based battles. The developers behind the game grew up watching sentai series like Flashman and Changeman, as well as Saban’s Power Rangers, which had a particularly huge influence on the creation of Chroma Squad.

Throughout the game, players will cast actors, purchase & upgrade equipment, craft weapons, and build giant mechs to battle evil and fight for justice with the goal of generating high TV viewer ratings.

Chroma Squad features classic sprite-based graphics and presents its story in a humor-filled Tokusatsu style made famous in classic, live-action Japanese sci-fi film and TV shows.

Behold Studios has released a free “Episode Editor” update for the Steam version of Chroma Squad on PC, Mac and Linux.

The "Episode Editor" free update to Chroma Squad allows players to create and share their custom Episodes using the Steam Workshop feature. The editor is very powerful, allowing for complex episodes including custom dialogue, cutscenes, battles and more. There is full Documentation available for the editor, as well as a video tutorial.

The game’s designer Mark Venturelli also included a brand new Chroma Squad episode called “Mark’s Wedding”, designed to slot right into the main campaign’s 4th Season. Fans can play the Episode and also use it as a guide for what’s possible with the new Editor.
