'Light Fall' (ALL) Launch Delayed Until April, PS4 And Xbox One Uncertain - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on March 20, 2018 @ 5:50 p.m. PDT

Light Fall is a platformer where you venture into Numbra, a world shrouded in darkness, and manipulate the mysterious Shadow Core to create platforms beneath your feet, overcome obstacles, and protect yourself from the dangers of long-forgotten lands.

Light Fall is a 2D platformer that inverts the norms of the genre with the use of the Shadow Core – an ancient artifact used to create platforms beneath your feet, overcome obstacles, and protect yourself from the dangers that lie ahead. Venture deep into the forgotten world of Numbra and embark upon a quest to uncover the truth behind the disappearance of people across the land, and the links to your own mysterious past.

Inspired by games such as Super Meat Boy, Limbo, and Bastion, Light Fall offers a new concept of platforming merged with a beautiful silhouette art-style and an adventurous tale of intrigue.

Explore the forgotten world of Numbra using the Shadow Core, a magical box beneath your feet, to help maneuver your way across the land and brave the many challenges and foes standing in your way. Light Fall redefines the platformer genre with the Shadow Core’s innovative game mechanic to deliver a fresh and exciting experience to players.

In Light Fall, players enter a strange universe where darkness prevails over light, to embark on a quest to uncover a mysterious past and save the inhabitants of this forgotten world. With Stryx the Night Owl as your companion and narrator, players can leverage the powerful Shadow Core, which can be summoned at anytime, as a platform to jump on or wall hop off of, adding a unique twist to the traditional platformer game. As players wander through the calm night of the Lunar Plain, venture into the Marshlands of Sorrow and face the exotic wildlife of the Vipera’s Forest, they will also encounter many outlandish characters, be it friends or foe. Do you have what it takes to survive in perilous Numbra?

Initially scheduled for launch in March, Bishop Games revealed that Light Fall will be available on Switch and PC (Steam) early/mid April!

Our initial release target was end of March, our plan was spoiled by an untimely crash bug that started to occur randomly. The bug is triggered in transitions between a level and a cutscene or between a level and the menu, but also doesn't happen all the time.

This, obviously, means that we failed to obtain a 'Gold' version of the game. We are currently working hard to fix this issue, which is the last obstacle standing in our way. It's unfortunate, but these things happen and we just have to buckle up and deal with it. It's hard to say when exactly the release will be, because the submission process is not that simple, but we are targeting the first two weeks of April. Obviously, an update will follow as soon as we have more details on the situation.

We realize that we have talked about PS4 and Xbox One in the past. Several times, even. But sometimes... plans change and partnerships develop and evolve unexpectedly. This is what happened with Nintendo. It's true that we're launching on Switch and PC first, but it doesn't mean we have forgotten about PS4 and X1. We will see how the sales go and we will adjust our strategy accordingly. Rest assured that these two consoles are definitely our next target.

Another surprise from today's announcement was that both the Story Mode and Speedrun Mode will be available on Switch/Steam at launch. The Story Mode will offer a narrative and more casual experience while the Speedrun Mode will provide an opportunity to compete and race the ghosts of players from all around the world! Do you have what it takes to climb to the top of the leaderboards?

Once again, we apologize for this delay. We know it sucks. But our motto has always been about taking the time necessary in order to make this game a reality. And this is exactly what we're going to do fixing this issue.

Key Features:

  • The Ultimate Freedom: Control the Shadow Core, a magical box beneath your feet that can be used and controlled at will, to propel yourself into the air and move across the land at your own pace. With the Shadow Core, you become the master of your surroundings and create your own path.
  • An Immersive Journey: Immerse yourself in Light Fall’s strange universe where darkness prevails over the light. Joining you in this adventure, Stryx the old and grumpy owl, will act as your sidekick and in-game narrator. Depending on his mood, he will either offer useful advice or bluntly mock your failures.
  • A Vast World to Explore: With the Shadow Core in hand, reach new heights and explore every nook and cranny of Numbra. Wander through the Lunar Plain, the Marshlands of Sorrows, the Vipera's Forest and the Unknown Depths, where shortcuts, alternative paths, hidden collectibles and easter eggs await you in large numbers.
  • Speedrun Competition: Quench your thirst for competition in the complementary Speedrun Game Mode. Compete with players worldwide and compare your fastest times with theirs on the online leaderboard.

Light Fall will be available for PC, and nintendo Switch in April 2018.
