Players must battle their way through six sectors of bullet-hell to confront and defeat the Final Boss and immortalise their name upon the High Score leaderboard. On their way, they must explore each sector for weapons and upgrades to ensure they have a fighting chance, all while surviving the onslaught of relentless enemies.
Null Vector is an arcade shooter that blends rogue-lite elements with retro-style fun. Herald back to simpler times as you pilot and blast through enemy-filled rooms to complete your one mission: Seek and Destroy the Final Boss! On your way, collect pickups to upgrade your ship, avoid damage and the Game Over screen while racking up points, and fight to enter your name to the top of the high score leaderboards. It certainly won’t be easy, but it definitely will be fun!
Inspired by the Binding of Isaac and arcade classics, such as Asteroids, Battlezone, and Smash TV, Null Vector brings the quarter-eater fun and difficulty of the 1980’s to the 21st century, without stealing your candy money! Survive and explore six sectors of varied enemies, mini-bosses, and bullet-hell, collecting upgrades and pick-ups as you blast through your run. Limited to a 3 slot loadout, you must pick and choose from 14 weapon and upgrade pickups, ranging from lasers and rockets to helper bots and fire rate bonuses. In addition, you’ll also have to manage your hit points and crystals. With no saves, annihilation means game over, giving you only one shot to complete your mission. Fear not though - crystals can be traded for HP, weapon and upgrade pickups, and other interesting benefits to bring you one room closer to defeating the Final Boss. With difficulty modifiers to rack up your score and difficulty, there are hours of fun and challenge to be had with Null Vector. And, if you feel more adventurous, Hell Mode awaits…
What are you waiting for? Plug in your controller and blast your way back to your childhood with Null Vector!
“After several successful months of Early Access, I'm delighted to finally bring Null Vector to its full release”, said Alex Miele, a.k.a Optical Override. “I've received strong, insightful feedback from the community and the reactions have been overwhelmingly enthusiastic, as can be seen from the positive reviews Null Vector has received. The response really has blown me away and I cannot wait to unveil the final build that will include even more varied content and an overall improved game experience than when the game was first released on Early Access."
Key Features:
- Using a quick hand and a watchful eye, earn points blasting your way from room to room, avoiding bullets and death as you explore every sector. Collect multipliers and bonuses while defeating the enemies within each room, such as the evasive Saucer and the “ram”-bunctious Charger.
- Select your loadout from 14 weapon and upgrade pick-ups that are rewarded, discovered, and traded for throughout your run. These range from Rockets and Lasers to Helper Bots and Fire-rate bonuses. Though limited to 3 slots, you can swap between pickups and there are even opportunities to further increase your loadout.
- Just like in the good old arcade days, there are no saves in Null Vector. So, you must successfully navigate and explore each sector without letting your HP hit 0. Challenging to be sure, but fret not - crystals rewarded throughout your run can be spent on health, upgrades, or bonuses through machines located in each sector. You can even gamble for some extra bonuses, if you’re feeling lucky, that is.
- There are hours of replayability and fun in Null Vector, with difficulty modifiers to change the game up and increase the score multiplier to help achieve that “Rank 1” score. For those daring enough, there’s also Hell Mode. Cranking the difficulty up to 11, this game mode puts the hell in bullet-hell, with even more bullets, more enemies, and more chaos to contend with. Definitely not for the faint of heart.
Null Vector will be available on Steam on May 3rd, 2018 for $4.99/€4.99/£3.99
