'Pantropy' Re-Launches Kickstarter Campaign, Off to A Great Start

by Rainier on April 10, 2018 @ 3:29 p.m. PDT

Pantropy is a sci-fi MMOFPS with RPG elements that takes place on a hostile alien world.

Pantropy takes place on a post spacecraft, hostile alien world around the year 2100 AD. Generators create wormholes that connect planets and make the colonization of foreign worlds possible. Players band together in factions to endure the difficult challenges that unfold. Pantropy’s exciting FPS gameplay has players competing with each other (and the native inhabitants of Pantropy) for limited resources.

Players band together in factions to endure the difficult challenges of Pantropy. Exciting FPS gameplay has players competing with each other (and the native inhabitants of Pantropy) for limited resources. Using an in-depth crafting system, players can create custom bases, research new equipment, and build mighty mechs. Pantropy encourages cooperative gaming to explore, gather resources, develop new technologies, and, ultimately, to survive.

Pantropy is officially now live on Kickstarter, looking for $24,633, and is slated for Steam PC early Access Q2 of 2018 post Kickstarter.

“We’ve implemented Flying bases! You’re the commander and get to order your base around. You´ll have to point a location on the map, and the base will head towards this location. Julian, our developer, has written a neat little script that renders the map and allows you to zoom into it and pan around. This also saves us a lot of work since we no longer have to create maps manually in photoshop.

So how do you get to your flying base? You can land it, but it still might be a bit difficult. That's why we've added jetpacks for the players! They´re pretty high tier, and your boost is limited and depends on the crafting quality. We didn't stop at the player jetpacks and decided to implement jumpjet modules for the mechs!,” says Sebastian Kaulitzki, Executive Producer at Brainstone Games GmbH

Future stretch goals include more boss creatures, pve-only servers, open-world single-player experience.

The alpha servers host up to 64 players simultaneously on a 64km² map and future releases will support highly populated servers, larger battles, and more powerful discoveries.

Pantropy features an “Anti-Offline-Raid System”, which protects your base from getting raided and destroyed sometime after you log offline. In addition, the “Friend or Foe Faction System”, gives players the ability to team up with friends while lending them the ability to identify menacing foes inside their own faction by banning them and even placing bounties on their head. The game is set-up to reward for good behavior by ranking up in reputation or decreasing depending on the player's individual behavior.

“We added this system to reduce frustration and to increase the cooperative gameplay experience for our players, we strongly felt a clear 2-Faction system was not present enough in other games out there on the marketplace today,” says Sebastian Kaulitzki

Cooperative gameplay allows players to explore, gather resources, create custom bases, build mighty mechs individually or with others simultaneously, research new equipment, develop new technologies with an in-depth crafting system (almost everything in Pantropy needs to be crafted). Missions assigned in the game are designed to dynamically react to the player and influence the world around them.

Pantropy has no micro-transactions or in-game purchases. It returns to the roots of online gaming where players earn rewards through skill and determination, not dollars. In order to gear up, players must scavenge for resources to craft tools, weapons, armor, vehicles, and buildings to protect themselves from the vicious alien fauna.
