Defiance 2050 is a completely from-the-ground-up recreation of Defiance that overhauls the story and gameplay of the original, reimagining the San Francisco-based sci-fi shooter experience for current gaming hardware.Twenty years have passed since the catastrophic Arkfall event left millions of Votans dead and Earth terraformed into a nearly unrecognizable post-apocalyptic landscape. In Defiance 2050’s version of San Francisco, players are transported to a dynamic open world where they can explore and fight in skirmishes and story-driven missions on an epic scale. Players will engage in massive cooperative battles with their friends, utilize hundreds of distinct weapons and skills, and take on huge alien threats as they explore transformed futuristic environments.
Defiance 2050 recreates the original game from the ground up, offering an experience that is the definitive Defiance experience in every way. Today’s consoles and PCs enable the dev team to implement features and upgrades that fans of the game have been clamoring for. Advancements in hardware allow for action on an even larger scale than before, with more players able to take to the battlefield in white-knuckled combat.
More than just a simple graphical remaster, Defiance 2050 is a major update to the original game’s systems, which have been streamlined and modernized. Environments are bigger and better than ever, enemies are even more ruthless, and weaponry is more adaptable to the player’s style.
Defiance 2050 kicks off its free Open Beta on PC beginning this Friday, June 22 at 10:00 AM PST and running until Monday, June 25 at 10:00 AM PST.
Players taking part in the Open Beta will have the opportunity to check out the game’s new base classes, weapon enhancements and progression systems ahead of its release on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on July 10. Progress from Open Beta will not carry over into the full game at launch.
Players can access the Open Beta beginning Friday, June 22, by downloading the game through Glyph or Steam.
Starting on June 19, Xbox One and PC players will be able to pre-order one of three Defiance 2050 Founder’s Packs, that will unlock classes and upgrades, provide additional currency, and grant them access to the Head Start period, which begins on July 6th. Also starting on July 6th, PlayStation 4 players will be able to purchase the Defiance 2050 Founder’s Packs, granting them immediate access!
Defiance 2050 will release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on July 10.
