Piko Interactive Wants To Bring Retail Boxes Back With BigBox Gaming

by Rainier on Aug. 17, 2018 @ 8:20 a.m. PDT

Piko Interactive have founded a new label to focus on physical games featuring “big retail boxes” like PC fans knew from the 80's and 90's.

According to Statista.com, between 2009 and 2017 physical game sales versus digital game sales have traded places with gamers. In 2009 80 percent of games were sold in physical format while 2017 showed only 21 percent of game sales were physical.

Known for rescuing classic gaming IP's, Piko Interactive, believes that physical is better than digital. Giving gamers physical goods such as DVD's, posters, and that over sized box, help build positive reinforcement within the community. While some publishers are destroying access to digital copies and fan access to them, Piko is reviving those classic IP's for a new generation of gamer.

Piko Interactive starting BigBox Gaming as a new label for physical, oversized, releases aims to stand out on gamers shelves, not just by the size of the box but also the quality of the releases, a focus that all Piko releases strive for.

Minskies Furballs is currently active on Kickstarter. Supporters of past Piko Interactive Kickstarter projects can appreciate the speed of turn around, quality of product, and hours of fun these games represent.

For many gamers this is an unknown title, unless you gamed on the Amiga 500, 600, or 1200 back in the late 90's.

Pulling inspiration from Puyo Puyo and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Minskies Furballs is a battle based puzzle title featuring 10 levels and many enemies to humble as your skills begin to hone.

The only version of Minskies Furballs to see release over 20 years ago was the Commodore Amiga version. With your help BigBox Gaming will be able to give Minskies Furballs a proper release on Windows and Macintosh computers as well as never before planned release on CD32. All these versions will be made available on one compact disc that is compatible with all the platforms. Simply insert the CD into a compatible system and Minskies Furballs will be playable.

Initial funding will allow 500 big box copies of Minskies Furballs to be produced. Stretch goals include a Minskies mouse pad, plush figure, and even a Sega Dreamcast port.
