'Rocket League' (ALL) Progression Update Coming Next Week

by Rainier on Aug. 22, 2018 @ 10:30 a.m. PDT

Rocket League is a fast-paced action-sports game featuring amazing physics, crazy aerial action, and compelling multiplayer combat.

The sequel to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, Rocket League expands on its successful pedigree with improved graphics and physics systems, a robust new single-player campaign, considerable customization options, and a fully-charged multiplayer game geared for a next-generation action-sports experience.

Rocket League is a futuristic action-sports game where players pilot rocket-powered vehicles in an enhanced version of soccer by driving their vehicles into the ball and other players in a variety of arenas. Rocket League uses an advanced physics system to simulate realistic interactions between cars and the ball, where mass and momentum determine how hard balls and cars hit each other, creating a unique and visceral playing experience.

Psyonix announced that the 'Progression Update' will go live in Rocket League on August 29 for all platforms (pending first party certifications).

The Progression Update will add a revamped progression system that retools in-game XP in addition to a new 'Clubs' feature that allows players to organize and compete as a proper team (Club) with up to 20 members.

The overhaul of progression moves XP from Offline Matches to Online and will give first-time and Rocketeer players alike new ways to unlock FREE content. The level 75 cap has been removed, XP bonuses were added and new in-game Titles, which you can earn over time, have been created.

Joining the progression changes is Clubs, the newest in-game social feature. Clubs lets you and your friends organize and compete as a proper team within the Rocket League client. You’ll be able to name your Club, create a custom Club Tag and have up to 20 players unified as one! We’ll dive deeper into Clubs before the update goes live, so consider this a brief peek at what’s to come.

The content included in the Progression Update is:

  • New Level Progression - An entirely-new system that removes the current level cap and and flattens the amount of XP needed for leveling up. For a more in-depth look, click here.
  • Clubs System - Players will be able to create and manage clubs that can have up to 20 members. More information about the Clubs System will be revealed on the blog in the next few days.
  • New Achievements and Trophies
  • Various Quality of Life Changes
  • A ‘Particle Details’ Video Option
  • Real-time filtering for text related to Clubs, Tournaments, and Party Chat
  • Avatar Borders: A brand new Customization Item that lives alongside your platform’s Avatar and your Player Banner!

Rocket Pass, a new time-limited item unlock system that also ties into the New Progression setup, will launch the week after the update.

As for RocketID and Cross-Platform Parties, everything is still on track to release it before the end of September, as outlined in the latest Roadmap Update blog.
