SCUM evolves the multiplayer open world survival game with unprecedented levels of character customization, control, and progression where knowledge and skills are the ultimate weapons for long-term survival.

The world’s unquenchable need for entertainment has turned towards bloodlust as entertainment behemoth TEC1 is set to premiere season two of its television sensation SCUM. This new season moves the contest from the rugged, enclosed Alcatraz sector to the full grandure of Bagne de Cayenne, an island with a sordid history of violent incarceration. Both fan favorites and new prisoners will clash in a ruthless war of survival while battling for the support of viewers, producers, and corporate sponsors for fame, gifts, and a chance of life after death.

Players will balance base level needs with knowledge-based skills to manage everything from nourishment, metabolic rate and body mass to weapons proficiency, combat style and security systems hacking. Dominate the island with your skills, cunning and strategies to achieve higher levels of game and receive powerful gifts from corporate sponsors and, if you happen to slip up and die, get resurrected by the show’s producers with all your valuable skills still intact.

Gamepires and Devolver Digital have released their hardcore survival game SCUM onto Steam Early Access at an introductory $19.99 price

Dedicated supporters can also purchase the SCUM Supporter’s Pack with exclusive in-game items including a handsome skull face tattoo, replica dev team shirt, and a blue bio control unit so people know you spent more when they are looting your lifeless corpse.

The small, 20-person team at Gamepires have quietly worked on SCUM for several years, spending the last year testing and refining the game’s systems with a small community of dedicated, core survival game fans. The dev team combined their intense study of the genre and an unmatched attention to detail to create a set of systems and gameplay mechanics that were accessible for newcomers yet complex enough to satiate the most meticulous survival enthusiasts. Players also have to urinate and defecate at regular intervals or suffer the unfortunate consequences.

Gamepires will spend the next year adding in advanced features, refining current systems, and expanding the meta-narrative that will lead the most skilled players to an end game with a way off the island.
