'PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds' (ALL) Partners With FACEIT For Competitive Integration

by Rainier on Sept. 27, 2018 @ 10:03 a.m. PDT

PUBG: Battlegrounds expands the core Battle Royale experience into a highly competitive player vs. player (PvP) game in a vivid open world.

Welcome to the ultimate battle for life and death

In development for PC and Xbox One, using Unreal Engine 4, the standalone game will expand the core Battle Royale experience enjoyed by millions of players into a highly competitive player vs. player (PvP) game in a dynamic open world. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will put up to 64 players on a remote island for a winner-takes-all showdown where strategic gameplay is as important as shooting skills. Players will enter a last-man-standing battle where they try to locate weapons, vehicles and supplies in a graphically and tactically rich battleground that eventually forces players into a shrinking safe area as they engage in a tense and spectacular fight to the death.

As part of the collaborative development process, PlayerUnknown has relocated to Bluehole’s Korean HQ from his native Ireland to serve as the creative director on the project at Bluehole while maintaining close contact with the grassroots community that has supported his projects.

When the match starts, players have no items or weapons. To progress, they can try to commandeer a vehicle to discover a high-value location, search for weapons or employ other diversified tactics with a goal of being the last man standing. All weapons can be upgraded with attachments such as sights and suppressors and both road and off-road vehicles will be available to players.

Kill or be killed in a fight to be the last man standing.

FACEIT is set to officially launch PUBG on the platform on September 28th in Europe, North America and South America. The launch comes after a closed beta that started in August, which saw over 200,000 players sign up. With its online competitive leagues and partner tournament organizers, the FACEIT platform will deliver the first structured progression system for competitive PUBG, setting a new standard for competition within the battle royale genre.

To celebrate the launch, FACEIT is going to reward the first player to reach 338 Chicken Dinners with an iconic FIAT 500.

PUBG on FACEIT offers players organised online leagues with a clear progression system to get them noticed by talent scouts and major team organizations. PUBG on FACEIT also offers region lock, the latest game competitive settings with faster zones and adjusted loot and a solid anti-cheat system. Players can also earn FACEIT points while playing, which can be exchanged in the FACEIT Shop for valuable in-game items such as weapon skins and crate keys.

“Whilst we anticipated high levels of success with the closed beta, we were blown away by the positive feedback and the number of sign-ups. The integration we developed with PUBG allows players to be in a match within seconds and we’re excited to welcome everyone on the platform to jump in and experience our competitive battleground,” says Niccolo Maisto, CEO of FACEIT. “PUBG is continually proving its fierce potential as an esport, and we’re thrilled to be a part of that exciting journey by offering players unprecedented opportunities to develop their skills.”

“The FACEIT integration offers our community a uniquely competitive framework to play PUBG at a level they haven’t experienced before. The closed beta proved the value of our partnership, and we can’t wait to watch the competitive scene develop further,” said Hyowon Yoo, Head of Business Development and Operations, NA/EU, PUBG Corporation.

PUBG’s integration into the FACEIT platform provides players, partners and organizers with the opportunity to create competitions, tournaments and leagues that feature customizable server settings, instant lobby creation and automatic stats and results fetching.

Key Features:

  • Custom Games: Being implemented after Early Access, this feature will allow select groups of players to create and host their own games with special server configurations, such as the number of players, option to spectate the round, play or set the game as private with password and more. Additional information about custom games will be announced after Early Access launch.
  • Realistic Gunplay: Players use real-world weapons found via supply drops to create an authentic and visceral experience.
  • Massive 8km x 8km World: Players begin as weak survivors and develop into powerful soldiers on a massive, deserted island set in Eastern Europe.
  • Built with Unreal Engine 4: PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds utilizes the latest development tools to deliver realistic visuals, animations and gameplay.
  • In-Depth Loot System: Players will uncover a wide variety of weapons, armor, attachments, and much more as they explore – and battle – across the world.
  • Player-Focused Metagame Tools: Leaderboards and statistics plus replays and spectator mode tools are coming after Early Access launch.
  • Loads of Localization: Launching into twelve languages (English, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Turkish, Arabic) with translations coming directly from the community.

Interested players can purchase PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on Steam for $29.99.
