'One Finger Death Punch 2' (ALL) Gets Playable Demo, PC Date

by Rainier on Feb. 13, 2019 @ 3:09 a.m. PST

One Finger Death Punch 2 is a fast-paced brawler making its triumphant return with its bone-crunching two-button gameplay.

Experience cinematic kung-fu battles in the fastest, most intense brawler the world has ever seen! With the unique 1:1 response system of One Finger Death Punch 2, players will feel the immediate feedback of every bone-crunching hit.

Just remember, do not button mash.

You are surrounded and outnumbered and have to use any weapon you can get your hands on to dismantle your opponents in a flurry of kung fu. That is the essence of OFDP2, which purports to be the world’s fastest kung fu brawler, and features the original OFDP’s unique two-button mechanics. Speed and precision are key in this whirlwind fighting frenzy, as players maintain control over the 26 different unlockable skills, frenetic gameplay, and classic kung fu-inspired animations.

If they hope to succeed, players must seamlessly switch between weapons without pausing in the frenetic action. With 700 different animations available, literally anything is possible—particularly when players unlock each of the 26 available skills.

The demo gives players roughly 45 minutes of fast-paced action controlling the chosen one (AKA white stick figure) as he fights his way through wave after wave of bad guys. Using his advanced martial arts techniques, various weapons, deadly skills, and surroundings, players can Eagle Claw their way through the tutorial and then Plum Flower Punch a handful of levels from the game’s first map.

Today’s demo will serve as a dumpling-sized appetizer to the full OFDP2 experience. Couch-potato combatants can expect over 400 levels, 15 level types, 4 endless survival modes, and two gauntlet run game modes all while helping the chosen one learn a total of 26 new skills.

One Finger Death Punch 2 has been a labor of love for my brother and I for the past five years,” Silver Dollar Games’ Jon Flook says. “Our only wish is for players to once again feel like they’re a kung-fu legend across all of the fun and engaging levels and game modes.”

To celebrate the launch of the OFDP2 demo, Silver Dollar Games has collaborated with Hyun Dojo for a special contest. One Finger Death Punch fans will need to animate the chosen one defeating an army of bad guys while using references found in One Finger Death Punch 2. Creators can use any of the weapons, bad guys, and any other references found in the game for their piece, which will then be judged by Hyun and the Dojo Staff based on the following criteria:

  1. Quality of animation / creativity
  2. Creative references to One Finger Death Punch 2

Additional information on the contest, including rules and how to submit your entry, can be found here.

Key Features:

  • As Fast As Ever: The lightning-fast gameplay is back without any compromise to the tight two-button control scheme. At the highest speeds, it's blazing fast, but still manageable.
  • Single Player Experience: The game is a single player experience, designed for short bursts of entertainment. Play while waiting for online matches in other games to start, or just use it as a pallet cleanser between genres.
  • Tonnes-O-Levels: We made too many levels, because well... we wanted to play a lot. Now featuring blind levels (no attack bars).
  • New Level Types: As you play through the game, you'll be challenged by new level types, such as Deadly Target, Horror Show, Blade Storm, Ghost, Drunken Master and many more.
  • Stickmen Again: Although stickmen are simple looking, they allow us to include a vast varietyof different kung-fu moves in our game. The multitude of different animations combineinto one fluid scene, to make an intense action sequence. This is somethingwe could only achieve by using stickmen.
  • Skills Return:There are 26 skills in the game. Some old ones return, some new ones emerge. Unlike OFDP1, which restricted you to 5 skills at a time, OFDP2 lets you have all 26 skills active at the same time. It gives you an incredible sense of power.
  • Survival: Our survival mode is back. However, it's still in the works, so we don't have many details on that yet.
  • A Couple Extra Game Modes: There will be a couple more game modes that we'll announce when they're ready.
  • Couch Cooperative Survival: There is a limited couch cooperative survival mode that you and friend can play together. Take turns tagging in and out of combat, and the resting player regenerates health. Because there are two of you, the survival challenge is much harder. Note that this is a limited experience, and you should purchase OFDP2 for its single player merits alone.

One Finger Death Punch 2 is releasing on PC on April 15th and is expected to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch in winter 2019.
