by Rainier on Feb. 8, 2019 @ 12:00 a.m. PST

World War 3 is a multiplayer FPS set in a global military conflict taking place in the third decade of the 21st century.

Strong teamplay, national armed forces, real locations, full body awareness, and a versatile customization system all contribute to the authenticity of the modern combat experience enhanced by other essential elements such as a robust ballistic system, advanced armors and life-like weapons.

Join the fight in massive, 64-player infantry battles, gain advantage over the enemy with personalized weapons, vehicles and drones.

Produced in cooperation with military R&D centers and consultants, World War 3 shows the consequences of every battle in the context of a global war campaign on a strategic war map. The emphasis is put on offering true-to-life modern battlefield, and combat focused on teamwork. We aim at offering authentic tactical combat operations in an unpredictable theater of war, striving for top playability and an authentic experience.

World War 3 enables you to take part in virtual battles using both infantry and military vehicles, allowing the player to choose soldiers from all over the world, including the Polish Armed Forces.

World War 3 is set to receive a major update to follow one of our main principles, which is Community Driven Development. We have heard your feedback and adjusted our plans to focus on stability, performance and bug-fixing first and foremost. This means that  apart from additional content, the 0.4 update is the most important one to date, thanks to what it does under the hood and how it influences the overall experience of World War 3.

Update 0.4 introduces the long requested Server Browser. From now on joining your friends will be much easier than before. We’ve also introduced numerous features that improve player movement, making the animations seem smoother and more polished. Other major features include improved sound effects, a slew of gameplay improvements and a host of other minor features which you’re welcome to discover and enjoy.

World War 3 is now available with a 20% discount on Steam during the Steam Lunar New Year Sale.

Full 0.4 Patch Notes

[KNOWN ISSUES]

  • Infinite loading is still happening sometimes, this is most likely related to the ammo problem (synchronization issues). If you can reproduce this issue, send us a video recording of you doing this, it will help speed up the resolution,
  • Some HUD elements are not updating properly, this is because we're optimizing the HUDs,
  • Crouch weapon positions are not finalized, resulting in lasers not aligning well and other visual bugs,

[GENERAL]

  • Server browser,
  • New TDM map: Moscow Senate,
  • New weapon: DMG Nine-Milli,

  • Chinese localization added,
  • New attachments (pistol silencer is in!),
  • Reworked ballistics system with wall penetration changes,
  • Polish commander VO,

  • Damage model pass - new damage and armor penetration values for all weapons (this is WIP, we will adjust things during PTE based on feedback): All automatic weapons set at 3 bullets-to-kill at close range with further variations based given caliber's range and AP performance,
  • Armors reworked to provide protection (that is: increases the BTK) against specific calibers: HDPE is effective against pistol rounds, Polyethylen against pistol and intermediate rounds, Ceramic against pistol, intermediate and rifle, Steel against pistol, intermediate and rifle with some protection against sniper rifle shots at longer distances,
  • Increased the damage dealt by leg/arm shots to 75% (was 50%) and hand/foot shots to 25% (was 20%) - This was done in order to make the TTK more reliable/predictable based on weapon shot and the armor used by the enemy. Those values are still WIP,
  • Weapon recoil bugfixed which resulted in minor improvements to overall weapon handling,
  • Assault Rifles had their stability reworked to promote more accurate bursts; will be observed and tweaked during the PTE,
  • SMGs slightly reworked in order to adjust them to their newfound close-range effectiveness (especialy SIG was heavily re-done),
  • Screen space for weapons tweaked for the new camera system, there may be a few oddities here to be fixed in PTE and/or once the new animation system goes live,

In addition to an intense PvP gameplay and state-of-the-art, realistic graphics, World War 3  also serves as a source of new ideas for the online shooters genre. The game’s authors will propose innovative mechanisms related to the interaction between players, monetization, teamwork and strategic planning. The game will also offer many solutions influenced by real warfare, and the modern arms industry – something that you will not find in the genre nowadays.

World War 3’s Warzone game mode features large-scale combined arms battles with infantry, armored vehicles and drones; its Recon mode features a fresh approach to the battle royale genre. Strong teamplay, national armed forces, real locations, full body awareness, and a versatile customization system all contribute to the authenticity of the modern combat experience enhanced by other essential elements such as a robust ballistic system, advanced armors and life-like weapons. Produced in cooperation with military R&D centers and consultants, World War 3 shows the consequences of every battle in the context of a global war campaign on a strategic war map. During the Early Access stage, the game will be available at a soft price.

World War 3’s gameplay will not be limited to dynamic firefights. The key to victory will lie in teamwork and smart strategic planning.

While working on World War 3, The Farm 51 is cooperating with top military centers, strategic center experts, and special forces veterans (GROM, SAS, SEALs, etc.). We are an official partner of key companies from the Polish arms manufacturing industry, including Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) and Centrum Symulacji OBRUM.

Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa is the biggest player in the Polish arms industry, and a key partner in the modernization plan for the Polish Armed Forces spanning the years 2013–2022. OBRUM has long been the leading R&D center in the area of broadly taken defense technologies. It is spearheading the scientific and technological development of the Polish arms industry.

The Farm 51 is cooperating with those organizations in the area of advanced combat and training simulators that greatly improve the soldiers’ abilities and efficiency on the battlefield, while minimizing training costs.

Key Features:

  • Warzone and Recon – a complete package: World War 3 presents a modern conflict with tactics, techniques and procedures inspired by true combat engagements. Warzone offers opportunities for dynamic, intense firefights in teamwork-focused battles of infantry and armored units over fortified points. The tactically-oriented Recon allows players to cooperate within small reconnaissance squads left on their own to survive and capture high-value targets in hostile territory. Together these modes create a coherent gameplay experience aimed at presenting the actual feel of modern warfare.
  • True combat experience: The most authentic bullet vs. armor system in the FPS genre to date, achieved through years of research and development with military professionals. Ballistics, a weight system, full body awareness, vehicle physics, and an extensive customization system all affect the gameplay in a meaningful way.
  • Strong teamplay: World War 3 supports team-based gameplay rewarding the initiative in playing as a part of a squad. Responsible cooperation within a squad is the best recipe for combat effectiveness. Players can choose between assuming the role of an Attacker or a Defender, and use any gear available to support their playstyle – what matters is the victory.
  • Strategic war map: To show the consequences of every battle, player performance is rewarded with resources used to conquer or defend a territory, gain additional bonuses via the metagame and turn the tide of war. Every destroyed vehicle, every kill, every bullet fired, every achievement affects the big picture presented on a constantly evolving, interactive war map eventually covering the entire planet.
  • National pride: World War 3 is heavily grounded in military realism, offering accurate depictions of weapons, uniforms and equipment of national armed forces inspiring players to make their war effort personal and prove their country is the dominant force on the battlefield. The maps are based on real-life locations such as the streets of Warsaw, Berlin and Moscow (more locations planned) recreated with an unprecedented attention to detail.
  • Versatile customization: Players are able to personalize every part of their equipment, choosing from hundreds of combinations of unique weapon parts, attachments, skins, camos and paints. The same applies to vehicles and tactical gear and uniforms. If it’s possible in real life, it’s possible in World War 3.
  • No strings attached: No paid loot boxes and pay-to-win approaches to game design. We consider it very important to stay true to the community and deliver the best game we can without resorting to such practices – as players ourselves we believe that the sense of pride and accomplishment should come with no paywall.

World War 3, powered by the latest Unreal Engine 4, is currently under development for PC by an international team of experts, with active participation of experts from arms manufacturing companies, and real military units.
