Games industry veteran Karl Magnus “KM” Troedsson has joined Nordisk Film Games as Senior Partner. Troedsson will team up with Managing Director Mikkel Weider and Senior Partner Martin Walfisz in spearheading the growth and further development of Nordisk Film Games.
In less than two years, Nordisk Film Games – a part of Nordic entertainment company Nordisk Film (owned by the Egmont media group) – has invested more than 130 mEUR in building a portfolio of game studios currently totaling six companies with Swedish Avalanche Studios as the largest asset.
Karl Magnus Troedsson brings more than 20 years’ experience in the games industry. He was with Stockholm based game studio Dice for 12 years as an Executive Producer, General Manager and CEO. In 2013, he took on global management roles with Dice’s owner Electronic Arts (EA). For the last three years, Troedsson has been an active angel investor focused on start-ups in the games industry.
“We are extremely happy that we have been able to attract Karl Magnus Troedsson to Nordisk Film Games. He is just a great guy who will add vast industry experience and an outstanding network. KM is very passionate about supporting game teams from inception and beyond, and we have no doubt that he will be able to work with our existing portfolio companies as well as help drive new acquisitions”, says Mikkel Weider, Managing Director, Nordisk Film Games.
“Nordisk Film Games is a talented group of people with the hearts and minds in the right place. They are a big investor but with a long-term and founder friendly approach which matches my own view on how to best work as a catalyst within the games industry. I am looking forward to helping Nordisk Film Games grow, evolve and diversify their portfolio”, adds Karl Magnus Troedsson.
Nordisk Film Games is the sole owner of Avalanche Studios and holds sizeable minority ownership positions in Starstable Entertainment AB, Raw Fury, Reto Moto, Kogama.com and Flashbulb Games.
