In Area of Darkness: Sentinel you play as Dr Anne Evans on her journey from New York to the remote Sentinel Islands; one of the few remaining places in the world untouched by modern civilization; a true area of darkness.

Along the way, players will encounter a cast of intriguing characters and creatures, uncover dangerous ancient mysteries and fight for their very survival.  The game features a variety of stunning locations and set-piece events ranging from an audience with an elusive billionaire at an opulent upstate New York mansion to parachuting out from the back of an aircraft at  30,000 feet and exploring ancient catacombs, untouched by civilisation for hundreds of years.

Rematch Studios took inspiration from movies such as the Indiana Jones series with this epic adventure. With its high production values and focus on cinematic storytelling, Area of Darkness: Sentinel sits as Pakistan’s first-ever premium VR game as well as filling a much-needed gap in the VR games market.

Developer Rematch Studios has focused on an immersive story with deep character interaction, dialogue and puzzle solving. An intuitive, motion-based combat system is the main tool for survival as players battle supernatural threats with in-your-face hand-to-hand combat.

The adventure also sees players collecting dozens of fully-voiced journal entries that serve to bring players deeper into the mystery of the Sentinel Islands, and who, or what was there before Dr Evans arrived.

Area of Darkness: Sentinel’s story plays out over 130 pages of script, with branching storylines depending on the choices and decisions that players make in the boots of the intrepid archaeologist, Dr Anne Evans.  Dr Evans and the rest of the cast have been brought to life with professional actors and voice actors, giving players fully motion-captured scenes that have been impressively created by an Emmy-nominated animation director.

Unfortunately, due to some issues during development, Rematch Studios regrets to announce that it will not be releasing Area of Darkness on the 30th as originally planned.

There is no new confirmed release date as it stands, with the immediate action being to ensure that players can enjoy Area of Darkness' adventure as the developers intended, battling supernatural threats rather than game-breaking bugs!
