'Chernobylite' (ALL) Kickstarter Campaign Enters Final Hours, Reveals Backstory - Trailer

by Rainier on May 10, 2019 @ 2:02 a.m. PDT

Chernobylite tells a story of conspiracy, horror, survival, love, and obsession in a form of a video game.

April 26th, 1986, 1:23 AM local time. The day when the Chernobyl nuclear disaster occurred, and the life of 350,000 people changed forever. At the time, you were just a passionate, but naïve, young physicist working at the facility. And like many, you’ve lost what was most dear to you – your girlfriend. Thirty years later you’re still struggling with the demons of the past. To finally put them to rest, you return to what’s now called the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.

30 years after the catastrophe, the pollution in Chernobyl continues to increase due to the unexpected activity of a dangerous substance produced as a result of the explosion, called “chernobylite”. You're far from safe. It is rumored from other stalkers still living in the Zone, that under the influence of its radioactivity, strange things have started to happen. Things only described in tales for naughty children up until now. You’re returning to Chernobyl with one goal in mind: to find your missing girlfriend and uncover the dark secret behind her disappearance. Get ready to confront not only the dangers of radiation and the military presence, but also the potential threat emanating from these new, mysterious happenings. Keep your wits about you and try to maintain your composure, because Chernobylite is going to challenge your very sanity.

Get ready for a thrilling adventure of survival, conspiracy, horror, love, and obsession. One that will6 prove to you that it’s not about how you face your fears, it’s about how you survive them.

Chernobylite is a science-fiction survival horror experience from the team behind the critically-acclaimed Get Even. The game mixes the free exploration of its disturbing world with challenging combat, unique crafting, and non-linear storytelling. The game utilizes Unreal Engine 4 and is based on Reality 51’s scanning technology, which is in development by The Farm 51 for over five years.

With a little over a day to go, The Farm 51's Chernobylite Kickstarter campaign has well surpassed its $100,000 target goal (currently sitting at $188k).

The next stretch goal is set at $200k, a whole new Red Forest level

The Red Forest – one of the most dangerous places in the Zone. The area of death in which the vegetation died and took on a reddish color. Due to the very high radiation, nobody ventures there any more... And that's why it’s an excellent place for a group of settlers who are hiding from soldiers. The Red Forest is a huge level of exploration, filled with mysterious figures that hide from the world, despite the extremely high contamination.

Thanks to the loyal support of the Kickstarter community, Chernobylite won’t just be visually realistic – the game world will also be much larger than previously assumed. In addition, the game’s realism will be enriched by audio recorded in the very locations in which the game is set: Chernobyl and Pripyat! The game will also be translated into even more languages, so that more people can truly enjoy Chernobylite and experience the game in their native languages. Gameplay will also be enhanced with the addition of a weapons crafting system.

The creators decided to give away free Steam keys of their previous documentary Chernobyl VR Project as the extra prize to anybody who supported or will support the campaign with pledge higher than 15 USD. So far Chernobyl VR Project was available only on virtual reality devices, but for Kickstarter backers there will be some special version placed on Steam that won’t require using VR headsets.

Ally or compete with other stalkers of the Chernobyl zone to survive. Remember that life is fragile, and it’s your decisions that determine the fate of your companions. You can spend as long as you need to prepare, however, be aware that your story is still being written. Every passing moment, your chances of success are dwindling: comrades are dying, supplies are running out, or an unexpected patrol could discover you. And on top of all this, supernatural dangers arise around you in mysterious patterns. Each day brings new challenges with the ever-increasing severity of your current situation. Plan your strategy carefully if you want to survive.

Craft your gear and weapons to protect yourself from the hostile military personnel and supernatural threats lurking in the zone. Make use of the sophisticated tools at your disposal to aid you in your struggle while navigating the rough and contaminated environment. Stay undetected and gather all the evidence you can to piece together events from the past.

Decide what happens in the world around you by making choices and finding, or avoiding, the truth.

Maintain your resolve and keep your wits about you, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant is not what it once was. No one can foresee the horrors that may have befallen your beloved.
