You are archeologist Aliya Elasra, on a mission with your robot assistant Six to track down a missing academic who has left a trail of ancient relics in his wake. Sail to the far reaches of the Nebula to solve a historical mystery that can only be understood by deciphering the long-lost language of Aliya's ancestors -- a massive linguistic puzzle that will reveal the region's earliest secrets to those who manage to crack it.

In this open world adventure you will decipher an entire hieroglyphic language to solve a massive interlocking puzzle with a unique narrative twist: the translations you choose feed back into story, changing Aliya's ideas about what she's uncovered. But be warned -- you'll never know for sure if your guesses are correct.

But your translations could be wrong, and you'll never know. Heaven's Vault adapts with a story that seamlessly, fluidly reflects your choices -- a story that will be different for every person who plays it.

Today's demo release coincides with LudoNarraCon, a digital convention celebrating narrative video games to be hosted on Steam on May 10-13. Heaven's Vault is one of 24 games featured in the event.

On May 10, members of the Heaven's Vault team will livestream the game and discuss its development between 10:00am and 1:00pm Pacific time.

This non-linear game allows you to approach the story in any order, with every choice you make and every path you follow (or don't follow) feeding into what happens next. A diverse cast of characters -- some kind, some cautious, and some out to con you -- will react to everything you say and change their approach depending on how you treat them.

Heaven's Vault's branching storyline is powered by inkle's robust ink narrative engine, which has been adopted by a growing number of developers for games including The Last Night, Where the Water Tastes Like Wine, Dream Daddy, and Bury Me, My Love.
