Battle Uruks, spiders, orcs, and more as you journey through Middle-earth, earning cards and devising new tactics along the way.
As a Living Card Game, The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game relied on a fixed distribution of cards to remove randomness from the purchase model and brought players deeper into The Lord of the Rings universe with a focus on immersive, narrative-driven experiences. Now, Fantasy Flight Interactive brings that same philosophy to the digital card game market with The Lord of the Rings Living Card Game, a completely unique digital card game with a non-randomized approach to card purchasing and a focus on cooperative, story-based gameplay.
As a single-player experience, The Lord of the Rings Living Card Game— tasks players with leading a team of three heroes through a series of narrative campaigns across Middle-earth as they face off against the dark forces of Sauron, controlled by the computer. Players will forge their own fellowships and build decks comprised of ally, event, and equipment cards to face challenges that test their willpower, knowledge, tactics and leadership. In the future, The Lord of the Rings Living Card Game will be expanded to support co-op play, allowing two players to bring their fellowships together and fight through quests side-by-side!
Ready your weapons, gather your heroes, and create your own story.
Currently available on Steam Early Access, The Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 8th, 2019.
The Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game will be featured in the growing library of great games with Xbox Game Pass, along with other acclaimed Asmodee Digital titles, Pandemic and Munchkin.
Asmodee Digital also made a fairly large announcement that they're excited to be making to continue to better align with the goals and desires for this digital card game that has been evolving since we launched into Early Access. Early Access has been a series of improvements and adjustments based on the communities feedback and this change that we are announcing today continues that tradition.
Henceforth from this date they will be changing the name of "The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game" to "The Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game". Now that the big announcement has been made, let's go over some of the reasoning behind this so that you can all understand why we're making this change.
While the term "Living Card Game" is used in the physical card game world to represent an ever-growing TCG world filled with narrative stories and campaigns, this is not a terminology regularly used in the digital realm. As such we feel that the name "Adventure Card Game" better describes our core value and game design that revolves around a card game in which you adventure throughout the world creating your very own story in Middle-earth. This means that the name now represents something more understandable for the entire community, as well as better representing the full experience offered by the game.
This change is been something we have been longing to do thanks to your feedback that you have generously been providing since release. We hope that the you like the new name, The Lord of the Rings: Adventure Card Game, and that it better meets player's expectations for the experiences they will face as they travel in Middle-earth.
