People Can Fly announced that it has opened a new studio full of industry veterans in New York City, to help in the development of the AAA shooter created in collaboration with Square Enix.

People Can Fly announced the continuation of its ongoing expansion plans with the opening of its fourth studio in North America. The new entity is known as People Can Fly New York and brings the total number of staff to over 200 across sites in Poland, the US and the UK.

Established in 2002, People Can Fly, is currently developing a yet-to-be-announced AAA project with Square Enix and is known for the blockbuster Bulletstorm titles as well as co-developing several titles in the Gears of War series.

Led by Studio Head, David Grijns and Executive Producer, Roland Lesterlin, People Can Fly New York is composed of approximately 30 highly talented developers from major studios including Avalanche, Activision Blizzard, Ninja Theory and Eidos Montreal. The management team previously co-founded Avalanche Studios New York and Defiant Studios in 2011 and 2016 respectively.

"It's an amazing time for People Can Fly," said Sebastian Wojciechowski, CEO at People Can Fly. "With the opening of our New York studio, we will surpass 200 staff, which will help us accelerate the development of our AAA project with Square Enix. At the same time, PCF now has a strategic foothold in one of the greatest cities in the world by which to attract world-class talent. David and Roland have a fantastic track record in building and managing high-quality teams. I look forward to working with them alongside our existing studios in the UK and Poland."

"When we first met Sebastian, we could tell right away that we shared a similar vision," said David Grijns, Studio Head at People Can Fly New York. "Sebastian immediately saw the unique opportunity our team represented, and we were amazed by the game People Can Fly has been working on for the past few years. We couldn't be happier to help build upon PCF's incredible track record and history and to work hand in hand with the amazing teams in Warsaw, Rzeszow and Newcastle. We are also thrilled to be reunited with our old friends at Square Enix."
