On April 1st, Japanese game studio, Granzella Inc. revealed that it would develop R-Type Final 2 for PS4, quickly dismissed by most people as an April Fools joke, but as it turns out, it was legit.
The R-Type series was created in 1987, and R-Type Final 2 will be the the latest title of the long-standing side-scrolling shooter game series.
In addition, the "Real-time Level Function" automatically adjusts the difficulty level according to players' skill and ability in shooter games. The difficulty level is displayed on the screen so that the players can check their scores in real-time. The higher the difficulty level, the more scores the player gets. Players who are not familiar with R-Type games can set a cap on the difficulty level to avoid gameplays that are too difficult and play according to their level.
The stages that appeared in the earlier work will come back with new expressions and interpretations.
R-Type Final 2 is being designed by Granzella's Kazuma Kujo, known for the Zettai Zetsumei Toshi (Disaster Report) series, Manga Kakeru, and City Shrouded in Shadow to name a few, and also designed the R-Type Delta, R-Type Final, and R-Type Tactics series.
Granzera Inc is excited to announce that R-Type Final 2 has reached 100% of the initial goal ($416,152) on the ongoing Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign the company launched on Tuesday, June 4.
We believe this achievement reflects the support and cooperation of our backers who look forward to R-Type Final 2. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to you for spreading the word about the game and our crowdfunding campaign.
There are 14 types of Kickstarter rewards, including digital or physical copies of the game, a hardcover art book, soundtracks, original T-shirts, and the right to put your name on staff credits, and so on. Some of these rewards are combined and available in 14 reward tiers.
There are some variations of player fighters which can be selected by the player. Depending on which fighter the player chooses, the equipped Wave Cannon (which charges energy by keeping the shooting button pressed and fires powerful beam) and Force (an unmanned unit that protects against the enemy's bullets in cooperation with the player fighter and fires powerful laser beams) which are available to the player will vary. Also, the player can increase the choice of fighters by meeting certain conditions.
R-Type Final 2 will be coming to PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam in 2020.
