'Star Wars Battlefront II' (ALL) Cooperation Update Details, Rolls Out Later This Week

by Rainier on Sept. 23, 2019 @ 12:00 p.m. PDT

Live the untold Star Wars story of Iden, an elite Stormtrooper, in an original single-player story. Battle on land and in space in an expanded multiplayer experience with iconic heroes and villains, thrilling space battles, and a deep progression and customization system.

Building upon the foundation of groundbreaking visuals and authenticity of EA's Star Wars Battlefront, DICE, Motive and Criterion are teaming up to deliver one of the most expansive Star Wars games to date. Star Wars Battlefront II will allow players to experience the untold story of an Imperial elite special forces soldier in an all-new single player campaign. In epic multiplayer battles, players will be able to pilot a First Order TIE fighter through intense dogfights in space, and play as ground troopers or iconic heroes and villains, such as Yoda and Darth Maul, across all three Star Wars eras.

Featuring new characters created by Motive in close partnership with the story group at Lucasfilm, the Star Wars Battlefront II single player campaign will deliver a new exciting story to the Star Wars universe. Taking place in the 30 years between the destruction of Death Star II and through the rise of the First Order, the single player story introduces Iden Versio, the leader of Inferno Squad, an elite special forces unit of the Galactic Empire, who are equally lethal on the ground and in space. In addition to Iden, players will also encounter and play as other iconic Star Wars heroes and villains like Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren during the campaign.

EA DICE revealed that the new Cooperation Update will officially go live in Star Wars Battlefront II on Wednesday, September 25.

The update features the addition of one of the Republic’s most powerful soldiers, the Clone Commando - an elite operative deployed by the Galactic Republic in high-profile missions. Weilding a DC-17m Repeating Blaster Rifle with an Anti-Armor attachment, the Clone Commando’s weapon releases a powerful shockwave knocking enemies off their feet.

Players can also experience the enchantingly exotic Felucia planet as a new playable location, as they will encounter tentacle-like vegetation spewing poisonous gas, farmlands, pouring rivers and the giant sarlacc pit.

Instant Action mode makes its official return in Star Wars Battlefront II and brings Co-Op along, as up to four players can play through objectives while taking on the AI enemies together.

To top it all up, Luke Skywalker will be getting the Farmboy Appearance from A New Hope, attainable by partaking in a special in-game challenge from October 11-18

The Clone Commando

Clone Commandos were elite operatives deployed by the Galactic Republic in high-profile missions across the galaxy. In Star Wars Battlefront II, Clone Commandos wield the DC-17m Repeating Blaster Rifle with an Anti-Armor Attachment, providing a lethal flexibility to engage both light and heavy targets.

Mounted on the Commando’s left arm, the repulsor releases a powerful shockwave knocking enemies off their feet. The Battle Focus Ability provides a damage reduction buff to nearby allies, while replenishing the Commando’s own health if damage is dealt to an enemy at the same time.

In other words: an all-round powerhouse on the battlefront. Time to show those clankers who’s in charge.

Felucia – An Enchantingly Exotic Battlefront

There’s nowhere quite like Felucia.

With tentacle-like vegetation (hey, are these things watching us?), funguses exploding with poisonous gas if shot at, and a plethora of beaming colors and pulsating life, this world is a sight to behold. Players will come across farmlands, pouring rivers, and a settlement soaked in details such as enterable house pods dotted with things left behind by their inhabitants. All accompanied by the enclosing ambience of the planet’s rich wildlife.

Speaking of wildlife: did we mention the giant sarlacc pit? There’s a giant sarlacc pit! Don’t fall down.

Instant Action is Back and Brings Co-Op Along!

Long-time Star Wars Battlefront fans will remember the Instant Action mode fondly. So, we believe it’s about time to introduce it in Star Wars Battlefront II.

With this update, Instant Action enables you to jump into offline, large-scale combat against AI foes in scuffles to control a majority of the command posts across the map (similar to how the ground phase in Capital Supremacy works).

In Co-Op, on the other hand, you’ll squad up with three other players to contest objectives while taking on the AI enemies together.

Both modes launch on Clone Wars era locations with AI controlled troopers, reinforcements, and heroes. Hone your skills, have fun with your friends, or just lean back and enjoy larger-than-life Star Wars battles without the fierce competition from human players.

Farmboy Luke and What’s Ahead

The classic Farmboy attire, as seen when we first met Luke Skywalker in A New Hope, is expanding Luke’s selection of Appearances in Star Wars Battlefront II. It’s collectible through a special in-game challenge between October 11-18, where you’re tasked to eliminate 150 AI enemies in the new Co-Op mode.

Additionally, also between October 11-18, Darth Maul’s “KENOBI!” emote – inspired by the “Twin Suns” episode of Star Wars Rebels – is rewarded to anyone who successfully captures 15 command posts on Felucia in Capital Supremacy.

We hope that you’re up to the challenge!

Beyond this update, we have even more exciting times ahead, culminating with content tied to this holiday’s much anticipated release The Rise of Skywalker. Stay tuned.

In addition to the all-new single player campaign, the team at DICE is evolving the game's multiplayer to become the ultimate Star Wars battleground. With modes supporting up to 40 players, Star Wars Battlefront II takes fans through a wide range of iconic locations from all three eras: prequel, classic and new trilogy, including new in-game locations such as Yavin 4's jungle canopies, the spaceport town of Mos Eisley, and Starkiller Base. Players can choose from an array of land and air vehicles and master their own hero's journey, with customizable character progression across heroes, villains, troopers and starfighters.

As one of the most requested fan modes, galactic-scale space combat is also brought to life in Star Wars Battlefront II. Criterion, with a deep history of creating some of gaming's fastest and intuitive vehicles, has built space combat from the ground up with refined handling, weapons, and customization options. Players can drop into the cockpit of the galaxy's most iconic ships, weave between asteroid fields and fly through imperial dockyards in high stakes dogfights.

Fans who pre-order Star Wars Battlefront II can join the excitement of the theatrical release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, with content inspired by the upcoming film including exclusive Kylo Ren and Rey themed looks. Players can also equip both characters with epic ability upgrades in multiplayer. Additionally, when taking the fight to space, players can upgrade to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi Millennium Falcon and a new First Order ship.

Players that order the Star Wars Battlefront II: Elite Trooper Deluxe Edition will not only have access to all the Star Wars: The Last Jedi inspired pre-order content, found in Star Wars Battlefront II: The Last Jedi Heroes, but can also dominate the battlefront as the ultimate Star Wars elite trooper. Every trooper class will receive upgrades, delivering superior firepower, deadly weapon modifications and epic combat abilities. Deluxe Edition owners will also get a head start on the battlefront, being able to jump into the game up to three days early.

Star Wars Battlefront II is currently available worldwide for PS4, Xbox One, and on PC (Origin).
