'DC Universe Online' (ALL) Celebrates 9th Anniversary With In-Game Event, Player Gifts And Open Episodes

by Rainier on Jan. 10, 2020 @ 12:33 p.m. PST

Daybreak has built a world where you feel like you've stepped into the DC Universe and become the ultimate super-hero (or villain) along side of Superman, Batman, or Ambush Bug.

Lex Luthor has traveled back through time with news of a dire future: While the heroes and villains spent years battling amongst themselves, Brainiac has been feeding on their powers, building strength to return to Earth and destroy humanity. To change the future, Lex has come back to set off a device that bestows super powers to thousands of every-day citizens and give humanity a fighting chance. Can Brainiac be stopped, or is this another nefarious Lex Luthor plot?

As a traditional action-based MMO that combines fast-paced, twitch-based combat with an interactive physics system to deliver a new and unique gameplay experience, DC Universe Online brings the DC Universe to life, allowing players to create their own superheroes - or villains - and join forces with their favorite DC Comics characters to aid in saving – or destroying – the universe.

DCUO offers a dramatic online setting where players can enter the DC Universe and battle alongside or against their favorite DC Comics heroes and villains including such icons as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and The Joker, as well as many other fan favorites such as Green Lantern, The Flash, Catwoman and Martian Manhunter. The action and drama will play out in such well-known locations as Gotham City and Metropolis among others.

DC Universe Online was created in the artistic vision of legendary comic book artist Jim Lee, and set within a world created by famous DC writers including Geoff Johns and Marv Wolfman.

DC Universe Online (DCUO) is celebrating its 9th anniversary today through the end of January with the Attack of the Anti-Monitor anniversary event, which threatens complete annihilation at the hands of the Anti-Monitor.

The following player and member gifts are also available:

  • All players:
    • One FREE Character Advance to CR255 (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC) or to CR100 (Nintendo Switch) to get you right into the fight. This character advance also comes with numerous starter items, and the new Hera's Strength 2020 gear suit will be available for all platforms. If fans want the Hera's Strength style on multiple characters, they can pick it up through Style Unlocking after they have equipped it on any character.
  • Members:
    • Special Member Appreciation Gift Box with the Member Gift Artifact Cache, Artifact Catalysts, XP, and Seals, and the full set of all-new Royal Chroma Materials, which allow you to swap out the texture (or "material") on any gear style with a new one. Royal Chroma Materials channel elegance and come in seven colors and three variants to get the ultimate in customization (members get them all).

Open Episodes are also back! All players can play through Episode 35 (with increased loot lockout times). Log in, rank up, and get a taste of what you have been missing. Open Episodes will also run through the end of the month (excludes Metal Part II).

DCUO allows players to channel their inner Super Hero or Super Villain by creating a unique, customizable character from a wide selection of superpowers, movement modes, weapons and over 2,000 styles. Players fight alongside DC’s iconic characters, including Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman and The Joker, in immersive, physics-based action combat.

DCUO is the first and only MMO game set in the iconic DC universe to be available on Nintendo Switch. For the first time, players can experience the massive scale of DC Universe Online on-the-go, including more than 30 breathtaking episodes that take place in huge open worlds such as Gotham City and Metropolis or beneath the sea in Atlantis.

DC Universe Online is now available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
