NVIDIA Reveals A Dozen More Games With Ray Tracing and DLSS Support This Year

by Rainier on Oct. 20, 2020 @ 9:00 a.m. PDT

NVIDIA revealed that the holiday will be stacked with blockbuster games featuring ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS.

Ray tracing and artificial intelligence is enabling the newest and most exciting gaming advancements, in both AAA and indie games. NVIDIA's GeForce RTX GPUs, with dedicated RT Cores for ray tracing and Tensor Cores for performance-accelerating NVIDIA DLSS, make it all possible. And now with the new NVIDIA Ampere architecture, this year’s most anticipated titles will look better, run faster, and give gamers the definitive experience.

Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs: Legion launches October 29th, taking players to a near-future London oppressed by authoritarian opportunists. At release, Watch Dogs: Legion will deliver beautiful ray traced reflections that bring dynamic reflectivity to surfaces across London. And NVIDIA DLSS will ensure maximum performance, and enable 8K gaming when playing on the new GeForce RTX 3090.

Call of Duty is one of the most critically acclaimed franchises of all time. This year, the iconic Black Ops series is back with Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, where you will be dropped into the depths of the Cold War’s volatile geopolitical battle of the early 1980s. Launching November 13th, you’ll be able to experience ray tracing in the campaign, use DLSS in all modes, and further enhance your time in the game with other NVIDIA technologies.

The highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 from CD PROJEKT RED launches November 19th. Gamers will get to experience the vibrant future metropolis of Night City with cinematic-quality rendering thanks to ray traced reflections, ambient occlusion, shadows and global diffuse illumination. And NVIDIA DLSS will deliver AI rendering to boost frame rates with uncompromised image quality.

More Upcoming Ray Tracing and DLSS Games

If that was not enough, there are several ray tracing and DLSS games launching in October and November:

Enlisted is an online squad-based first person MMO shooter covering key battles from World War II. The player controls a squad of soldiers with various roles (i.e. sniper, radio operator, heavy gunner) or a crew of a tank or an aircraft pilot. Support for ray-traced global illumination and DLSS will be available during the closed beta, which begins in November.

Recent Ray Tracing and DLSS Launches

If you missed it, there have been several popular games that have introduced ray tracing and DLSS since we announced our GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs.

Fornite, the world's most popular battle royale, dramatically improved game fidelity with the addition of ray-traced reflections, shadows, ambient occlusion and global illumination, while accelerating performance by up to 3x with NVIDIA DLSS.

Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers and F1 2020 added DLSS support, while Control and Wolfenstein: Youngblood added DLSS Ultra performance mode, enabling 8K gaming.

DLSS Ultra Performance mode uses a newly trained AI super resolution model, purpose-built for 8K, that offers great image quality while rendering only one ninth of the pixels.

Games that currently support DLSS Ultra performance include Control, Death Stranding, Justice, Marvel’s Avengers, Minecraft with RTX Beta for Windows 10, and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Future support is coming to Boundary, Bright Memory: Infinite, Enlisted, Ready or Not, Scavengers, and Watch Dogs: Legion.

We also announced two new RTX titles from Tencent’s Aurora studios: ray tracing is now available in Moonlight Blade, one of China’s most successful MMORPGs; and free-to-play battle royale Ring of Elysium will be bringing ray tracing to it’s 10 million global players on October 22.

Ultimate Ray Tracing and AI

There is little doubt ray tracing is the future of gaming:

  • Ray tracing and DLSS support is out in beta in what is the most popular game, Minecraft
  • Ray tracing support was in at launch in the biggest blockbuster in gaming, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
  • Ray tracing is coming to one of the longest running MMORPG of all time, World of Warcraft
  • Ray tracing and DLSS is available in the pop culture sensation, Fortnite
  • And ray tracing and DLSS support is launching in what could be the most anticipated game ever, Cyberpunk 2077

This holiday season there is no shortage of RTX enhanced games, from AAA blockbuster’s like Watch Dogs: Legion and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, to indies such as Pumpkin Jack.
