'Cyberpunk 2077' (ALL) Gets Recommended PC Specs, Comes To GeForce NOW, Shows Off RTX On Gameplay - Trailer

Cyberpunk 2077 is a narrative-driven, open world RPG set in the most vibrant and dangerous metropolis of the future — Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be designed for mature and demanding players who expect to be treated seriously, and the game will be richly detailed, non-linear, and with a complex and gripping story.

The creators promise that “Cyberpunk 2077” will be true to the essence of the cyberpunk genre. Players will be thrown into the dark future of the year 2077 and into a world where advanced technologies have become both the salvation and the curse of humanity. A multi-thread, nonlinear story designed for mature players will take place in the sprawling metropolis of Night City and its surroundings. Players will have a chance to freely roam the open-world environment and visit places well known from the pen-and-paper RPG “Cyberpunk 2020”, including a combat zone completely taken over by gangs, the legendary Afterlife joint and the nostalgic Forlorn Hope.

In Cyberpunk 2077, the player will be thrown into a dark future. The metropolis of Night City is a stage set to tell the tale of one individual, raised on the streets, who tries to lift himself up from the gutter and find a way to survive amongst booster gangs and mega corporations in a city of filth and sin. Drugs, violence, poverty and exclusion haven’t disappeared by 2077, as people stayed as they were for centuries – greedy, closed-minded and weak. But not only ghosts of the past trouble mankind, but new issues have appeared. Psychos go on rampages and the streets are filled with junkies addicted to a new form of entertainment – the braindance, a cheap way to experience the emotions and stimuli of someone else, someone living a more exciting life.

Today, NVIDIA released a new game developer video interview with some of the crew at CD PROJEKT RED, who are working to bring Night City to life, complete with a brand new gameplay montage. Cyberpunk 2077 also got updated recommended system configurations which names the GeForce RTX 3070 the official recommended GPU for ray tracing.

A  Virtual Tour of Night City

The video features gameplay with DXR ray tracing and NVIDIA DLSS, and goes deep into the use of these technologies to make the environment more immersive. Of particular interest is the difference ray tracing makes in the day/night cycle in the game. The video serves as a stunning highlight reel of ‘a day in the life’ inside Night City by showcasing many previously unrevealed game scenes.

With RTX ON, Night City is transformed. Glorious ray-traced reflections are cast on every possible surface; substantially improved shadows naturally soften and sharpen; shops, streets and buildings are realistically illuminated with diffuse lighting; and in general the world is more immersive and detailed.

GeForce RTX 3070 for Cyberpunk 2077- Rec Spec Updated

CD PROJEKT RED also updated their recommended system configurations for Cyberpunk 2077 to include the GPUs recommended to experience Night City in all its glory with RTX ON. The GeForce RTX 3070 is the official recommended GPU for ray tracing.

With RTX ON, Night City is transformed. Glorious ray-traced reflections are cast on every possible surface; substantially improved shadows naturally soften and sharpen; shops, streets and buildings are realistically illuminated with diffuse lighting; and in general the world is more immersive and detailed, enhancing your Cyberpunk 2077 experience.

The minimum GPU for Ray Tracing, at 1920x1080, is the GeForce RTX 2060. Gamers will explore Night City with Medium Ray Tracing Preset powered by DLSS.

At 2560x1440, we recommend a GeForce RTX 3070 or GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. Ray tracing is taken to Ultra, which greatly increases the fidelity of the aforementioned effects, and the distance at which they are visible, while DLSS provides boosted frame rates with uncompromised image quality. And with rasterized settings also being cranked to Ultra, GeForce RTX 3070 and 2080 Ti gamers receive an incredible experience at the highest detail levels, unmatched by any other platform.

And finally, if you’re playing at 4K or beyond, the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 deliver the performance to play Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing at Ultra at this incredibly demanding resolution. Both GPUs are powered by Ampere—NVIDIA’s 2nd gen RTX architecture—with dedicated RT Cores for ray tracing, and Tensor Cores for DLSS AI acceleration, delivering an unrivaled cinematic-quality experience.
