Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer (4vs1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught, tortured and killed.
Survivors play in third-person and have the advantage of better situational awareness. The Killer plays in first-person and is more focused on their prey.
The Survivors' goal in each encounter is to escape the Killing Ground without getting caught by the Killer - something that sounds easier than it is, especially when the environment changes every time you play.
The game features procedurally generated levels, so players never experience a repetitive map. Be the killer and massacre all your victims before they escape, by using your speed and power in 1st person, or team up with your friends to try and outwit the killer with your superior awareness and agility in a 3rd person's view as he hunts you through a nightmare world.
Players take on the role of both killer and survivors in a deadly game of cat and mouse. It’s a Mature Gamer take on the thrills of Hide & Seek!
Behaviour Interactive is excited to launch Dead by Daylight on new consoles this week. This launch is part of The Realm Beyond—Dead by Daylight’s initiative in embracing the possibilities of new gen.
Dead by Daylight on Xbox Series X/S
Dead by Daylight will launch on Xbox Series X/S on November 10. Players who own an Xbox One version of DbD will be eligible for a free upgrade on Xbox Series X/S. Their progression will be carried over on to their new console.
Dead by Daylight will also be available on Xbox Game Pass for Console. With Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, players will have access to Cloud gaming (Beta), allowing them to face trials on their Android mobile phone or tablet, truly making DbD a portable experience. Moreover, Ultimate members can redeem a new Perk for free, adding Kate Denson and the Clown to their roster, as well as two outfits.
Dead by Daylight on PS5
The hit horror game will be available on Day 1 on PlayStation 5. In Australia, Canada, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea and the United States, this means players can look for Dead by Daylight on November 12, as soon as they purchase their console. In other territories, it will be available on November 19. Players who own the game on PlayStation 4 or got the game for free on PlayStation+ will be eligible for a free upgrade and will see their progression follow through on PlayStation 5.
The Realm Beyond Graphical Update Continues
The game will run at 4K and 60 fps and will benefit from the graphical update and its regular content drops, ultimately leading to an entirely remastered edition of the game. Current players who own the game and decide to buy a next-gen console will experience a seamless transition, getting Dead by Daylight for free on their new platform of choice, while keeping all progression.
Dead by Daylight is undergoing a major graphical update that will be available for free for all players, on all platforms. The ultimate goal is to improve the immersion tenfold, making the environments as realistic as a scary, disturbing nightmare. The lighting and VFX will be vastly upgraded, as well as the modeling, textures and animations. More props will be added to the maps, and proper functions will be given to rooms to make them more identifiable.
The development team is fully focused on this rework and visual improvements will be delivered every six weeks, following the current Chapter and Archives roadmap. Over the coming months, tens of thousands of assets will be enhanced as part of this overhaul. Common items such as lockers, generators, palettes, as well as two maps, can be expected as part of next week’s patch.
“Dead by Daylight continues to break records and we’re so grateful to our fans for their support. The future is coming to us in the shape of these amazing new platforms. Dead by Daylight will be there, bigger and better than ever to terrify people using the latest tech!” said Mathieu Côté, Head of Partnerships, Behaviour Interactive.
Following the Cross-Play and Cross-Friends announcement earlier this summer, Behaviour is happy to follow suit with Cross-Progression on Stadia, Switch and Steam using the brand new BHVR Account. Again, using the Behaviour Account, players will be able to carry their progression from one platform to another, from a casual trial curled up on the couch to a more intense escape in front of their PC.
Key Features
- Survive Together… Or Not - Survivors can either cooperate with the others or be selfish. Your chance of survival will vary depending on whether you work together as a team or if you go at it alone. Will you be able to outwit the Killer and escape their Killing Ground?
- Where Am I? - Each level is procedurally generated, so you’ll never know what to expect. Random spawn points mean you will never feel safe as the world and its danger change every time you play.
- A Feast for Killers - Dead by Daylight draws from all corners of the horror world. As a Killer you can play as anything from a powerful Slasher to terrifying paranormal entities. Familiarize yourself with your Killing Grounds and master each Killer’s unique power to be able to hunt, catch and sacrifice your victims.
- Deeper and Deeper - Each Killer and Survivor has their own deep progression system and plenty of unlockables that can be customized to fit your own personal strategy. Experience, skills and understanding of the environment are key to being able to hunt or outwit the Killer.
- Real People, Real Fear - The procedural levels and real human reactions to pure horror makes each game session an unexpected scenario. You will never be able to tell how it’s going to turn out. Ambience, music, and chilling environments combine into a terrifying experience. With enough time, you might even discover what’s hiding in the fog.
Behaviour has implemented Cross-Play across PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, allowing players on console and PC to face trials together, while Cross-Friends will let you create a friends list that is cross-platform and enjoy an unprecedented multiplayer experience in their favorite multiplayer horror game.
Dead by Daylight is currently available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC, coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X in Holiday 2020.
