All stories and content, and especially the fan-favorite epic battles with their huge number of enemies, will be included in this free-to-play release.

Players of PSO2 become a member of a research expedition called "Arks," which belong to a fleet of interplanetary cruising ships, setting out to a research a variety of different planets. Visiting places for the mission (quest) always evolves into a fresh and surprising adventure, including auto-generated maps, sudden events, and a Multiplayer Party Area, where up to 12 players can play together simultaneously. 

Each planet and quest is an encounter with different characters and battles with enemies. Its easy control systems allow for intense exhilaration in battles as well as highly strategic and customizable actions.

Gigantic boss enemies are also waiting for their time to challenge you with their towering body that covers the whole screen. Team up with other players against epic bosses!

SEGA has rolled out the free Phantasy Star Online 2 Episode 6, continuing the game's main storyline, while introducing new classes, quests, enemies, and more. Level cap will be increased to 95.

Christmas in Phantasy Star Online 2

Quna is feeling merry so she's putting on performances of Eternal Encore with a holiday twist to them! Be sure to catch this special concert in the Shopping Plaza so you can experience the wintry magic with your fellow ARKS Operatives! Quna will be back on the stage of Fleet Oracle to perform The "Eternal Encore (Christmas Version)" show!

There is a new Urgent Quest called Christmas on Ice available starting tomorrow. In the snowy and normally silent Tundra area of Naverius, things are beginning to stir. Decorations have been placed, lights have been lit, and all await the pending festivities with glee. However, there are others that have also been attracted by the hubbub, and they are not on the guest list. Falspawn and other enemies are circling, attracted by the lights and music, and sadly they are not your average opponents. Resonant and other enhanced enemies have been spotted, and it's up to you, ARKS Operatives, to ensure that our Holiday Venue remains safe for guests.

In groups of 12, you'll have just 10 minutes to clear the rabble from the Venue, and Quest Points will be allotted to those who make the largest dent in the number of invaders. Naturally, as more enemies are defeated, the more intelligent and ferocious enemies will assume the defenders to have flagging spirits and will make their move; so be on your guard as your time nears its end.

It's time to show off your Bingo skills again Arks! Complete the objectives in the squares of your Bingo card to get fabulous rewards! Also, remember that there's a back side!

Episode 6 Update

The Next Chapter

In the battle at Alternate Dimension, Omega was victorious and the gigantic black hole that appeared in Oracle and Earth's universe was extinguished. However, the one who calls herself the "Goddess of Annihilation Shiva" has appeared at the ARKS ship. The ARKS fought valiantly but attacks using Photon Arts were not effective against her. After showing her superior powers and declaring war against the universe and ARKS, she left. But not for long. Eventually, the "Final Armada" appeared in front of the Oracle fleet, with the aim of annihilating the Oracle and destroying the universe. Changing the battlefield to space, the most massive battle for ARKS begins.

New Classes

Episode 6 introduces the Phantom Class AND the Etoile Class; both are part of the Scions. The Phantom adeptly uses Rods, Katanas, and Assault Rifles in a manner unique to their Class. But their advantage doesn't end there, for they can quickly modify their Rod or Katana's standard Photon Arts on the fly with the use of a Weapon Action, thus executing a Shift Photon Art and increasing the variety of attacks they can perform. Even their Techniques, when executed with a Rod in hand, provide an additional Technique Attack. 

In the hands of a Phantom, the Phantom Assault Rifle is used to create Phantom Bits, allowing the Phantom to continue with their Attacks and Photon Arts while deployed Bits seek and detonate upon the target. Perhaps most impressive, subsequent attacks against enemies will apply a Phantom Marker, which detonates when struck with a Charged Weapon Action.

The Etoile class supports teammates through Melee fighting. Equip Double Saber, Soaring Blades, Wand and command them in a way only the Etoile can. Through their special supportive skill, they can restore party members' HP and PP. Their strength allows them to not only support their team but also to defend themselves in battle.

New Enemy Types

Beware of new enemy types! The Luminmech have high attack power, heavy armor, and unique skills. The Ultra Enemy is a powerful enemy that has undergone a strange evolution from the native enemies and Falspawn in each planet; it is Ultra Hard in difficulty and players have a chance of earning powerful weapons when defeated. The Ultra Enemy can be found through the Risk Exploration missions with Ultra Hard difficulty.

New Quests

Join the New Urgent Quest, "Armada of Annihilation: Interception", a space battle against "Armada of Annihilation" which uses more advanced technologies than that of ARKS, led by "Goddess of Annihilation Shiva", the nemesis of ARKS. ARKS will engage in a massive battle in space, while enhancing their forces with "AIS Vega".

There is also a new entry in the Recommended Quests at the Quest Counter – Level Up Quests. These will also reward a Special Present at the end of the Quest, in addition to providing an additional 200% EXP!

New Summoner Pets

Two new summoner pets, Herbie and Vulcan, have joined the battlefield!

Herbie is an evolved form of Redran with an increased DEX (+93 at Level 130). Herbie has a new personality type, that of GENIUS. When facing a Boss-type enemy, this personality will provide increased PP recovery, faster performance of Photon Arts, and increased Normal Attack damage.

Vulcan is the evolved form of Synchro. Its nature allows for higher damage with chained Photon Arts. It has an altered personality, however, and is considered Aggressive. This personality reduces its Critical Hit Rate in exchange for greatly increased damage. It also has slightly higher Dexterity, Defense, and HP than its lesser form.

PSO2 lets players create their own characters in an easy and intuitive way with the "Character Creation" system.

Not only costumes, hairstyles, accessories, but also the height, body shape, and moreover, the length and thickness of arms and legs, can be customized with a morphing feature for unlimited customization and design combination.

The entire game will be made available as a F2P experience for players on Xbox One. There will be no limitations on game experiences such as Class Level cap or direct purchase of high-tier weapons because we want to provide all players with a fair and exciting experience.

The North American version of Phantasy Star Online 2 includes fully localized text and character voices in English, spanning three years of content. In addition to the immersive original PSO2 story, the NA version also features the most-up-to-date balancing and quality-of-life improvements from the Japanese service. Players can choose from four races and nine classes while tackling various missions. They can also take a break from questing by playing one of the many Casino mini-games, chilling in the Alliance Quarters, competing in the new ARKS League or attending all-new live stage events. And for the first time they will be able to do all of this with friends on both PC and Xbox One thanks to cross-platform play.
