'Ticket to Ride' And 'Carcassonne' Free On Epic Games Store, 'Kingdom Come' And 'Aztez' Next Week

by Rainier on Feb. 6, 2020 @ 2:30 p.m. PST

Asmodee Digital's Ticket to Ride and Carcassonne are adaptations of classic board games, now available for free on the Epic Games Store.

Based on the renowned board game by noted game designer Alan R. Moon, Ticket to Ride is a casual card based game, featuring simple rules but fast play, that lets you race your opponents from city to city as you plan routes across the country to become the most traveled player.

Ticket to Ride challenges players to plan cross-country rail routes across North America and visit all the city stops in-between. Although the game can be learned in under five minutes, players face strategic and tactical decisions that vary with every turn as they connect distant cities and race to complete the most routes.

Carcassonne: The Official Board Game is a modern classic tile-placement game based on the award-winning board game in which the players draw and place a tile with a piece of southern French landscape on it.

The tile might feature a city, a road, a cloister, grassland or some combination thereof, and it must be placed adjacent to tiles that have already been played, in such a way that cities are connected to cities, roads to roads, etc.

The player can then decide to place one of his followers, called Meeples, on one of the areas on it: on the city as a knight, on the road as a robber, on a cloister as a monk, or on the grass as a farmer. When that area is complete, that meeple scores points for its owner.

Each new game is a new experience thanks to the ever-changing landscape.

Once Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne: The Official Board Game, the current free games on the Epic Games Store, have run their course, it will be up to Kingdom Come: Deliverance and Aztez, which will both be gratis starting on February 13 until Feb 20, 2020.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance promises a first-person seat to a harsh and brutal power struggle for the throne. As players traverse expansive, strikingly detailed locales, they’ll grapple with a range of period-accurate fighting techniques, horseback combat, open-field sieges, and large-scale battles, all while developing relationships and a reputation that will inform the greater story.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance promises no magic, high fantasy or mythical overtones - it draws its inspiration instead from historically authentic characters, themes, and warfare.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is a first-person, open world, realistic RPG that will take you to Medieval Europe in a time of great upheaval and strife. The game is set in 15th century Central Europe, the Kingdom of Bohemia is on the verge of civil war. You play as Henry, the son of blacksmith. Your hometown was raided and your family was murdered. Driven by a lust for vengeance you go out on an epic journey. The local lord entrusts you with identifying the culprits behind the massacres plaguing the region. You will need to use all your skills of persuasion and intimidation to extract valuable information from bandits but you are not the only one who is after the raiders. A mysterious killer is slaughtering all witnesses in the most vicious way. In order to bring end to the bloodshed you must act fast.

Key Features

  • Massive realistic open world: Majestic castles, vast fields, all rendered in stunning high-end graphics
  • Non-linear story: Solve quests in multiple ways, then face the consequences of your decisions
  • Challenging combat: Distance, stealth, or melee. Choose your weapons and execute dozens of unique combos in battles that are as thrilling as they are merciless

Kingdome Come: Deliverance is currently available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

In Aztez, you are responsible for expanding and maintaining the Aztec empire with turn-based strategy gameplay, and managing violent outbreaks with real-time beat 'em up gameplay segments. But your actions in one gameplay type directly affect the other! A game of Aztez doesn't take to long to play, but it is designed to be hugely replayable, as every game of exciting empire management is different from the last; different events will occur, different challenges will emerge, and different spoils will be taken every time you play.

At its core, Aztez is two games. One of those games is a full on real-time beat ‘em up combat experience, mixing feel and creativity of Bayonetta, the sensationalism and mobility of Capcom’s Alien Vs Predator, and the precision difficulty of classic Devil May Cry.

The other game that comprises Aztez is an empire management strategy game, and that’s where the aforementioned replayability comes from, creating an infinitely more interesting vehicle for thrilling combat; a randomized, historical Risk-like.

Every game is unique; different events will occur, different challenges will emerge, and different spoils will be taken each time you play. Spread, strengthen, subjugate!

Key features:

  • 4+ complete weapon sets: the spear, the club, the ritual knife, the legendary obsidian sword, and more.
  • Finely tuned array of enemies based on the Aztec archetypes: the Eagle warriors, the Jaguar warriors, the Noble warriors, the combat Priests, and more.
  • Customizable avatar; beat the gear off of your enemies and wear it!
  • 30+ combat environments based on real Aztec cities.

After February 20, these three games will be available for sale on the Epic Games Store, for the same price as on Steam (9,99 € / $9.99 for each title). They will remain available on Steam during the free game program’s duration and afterwards.
