'Valorant' Closed Beta Begins Next Week, Sign Up Now

by Rainier on March 30, 2020 @ 5:25 p.m. PDT

Valorant is a competitive 5v5 character-based tactical shooter where creativity is your greatest weapon.

Here’s what we think it takes for you to trust a game enough to invest: 128-tick servers, at least 30 frames per second on most min-spec computers (even dating back a decade), 60 to 144 FPS on modern gaming rigs, a global spread of datacenters aimed at <35ms for players in major cities around the world, a netcode we’ve been obsessing over for years, and a commitment to anti-cheat from day one.

Shooting in Valorant is precise, consequential, and highly-lethal - we want you to win on your skill and strategy alone.

Imagine this: tactical shooter meets hypernatural powers. Everyone’s got guns and a unique set of abilities, so how do you beat someone with the speed of wind? Use your own moves to outplay them and beat them to the shot. VALORANT is a game for bold strategists who dare to make the unexpected play, because if it wins, it works.

Valorant is getting a closed beta starting April 7.

"We're ready for the first wave of players to test VALORANT's competitive gameplay and take our first step toward building a global community. For now, space is limited to players in Europe, Canada, United States, Turkey, Russia and CIS countries. The plan is to roll out to more regions, if possible, pending the volatile logistics of launching a beta effectively during a global pandemic."

If you are in the above regions, follow these steps.

  1. Register for a Riot account
  2. Link your Riot account to a Twitch account (you can get one here)
  3. When closed beta activates in your region (EU and NA for now), watch specific VALORANT closed beta streams highlighted on Twitch.

Please note that the number of players we let in is based on our current server capacity. We encourage everyone to register and we’ll let more people in as we are able. Player count will ramp up based on timelines for when we can activate more regional servers.

Valorant's closed beta progress will NOT carry over to launch as the current gameplay state may very well change come launch, and it’s better that everyone’s progress begins at the same starting line.

Riot Games are still aiming for our launch date of Summer 2020, and want to keep closed beta as short as they can while getting additional regions online. That said, if they receive a lot of unexpected feedback from players during this period, they’ll reevaluate.

Valorant (formerly known as Project A) will be free-to-play and is coming to PC in summer 2020.
