'No Straight Roads' (ALL) Also Comes to Xbox One And Switch - Screens & Trailer

No Straight Roads is a rhythm-based action-adventure title.

No Straight Roads is created with two goals in mind: to reinforce the role of audio in a video game without turning it into a rhythm game, and to tell a story about different musical ideals through powerful visual elements.

Your music can change the world in No Straight Roads. With the power of music, you can transform certain objects into weapons. Your performance in the game will also bring about changes in the game’s music: a dynamic transition between rock and Electronic Dance Music.

The game plays like a traditional third-person action game but is inspired heavily by music. You can move and attack freely, and switch between Mayday & Zuke at any time, but keep an ear out for the music as enemies will always attack to the beat!

The Nintendo Switch version of No Straight Roads includes additional features designed to take advantage of the console’s unique functionality, including:

  • Exclusive Assist Mode – Partner up with an additional local player to take control of the Elliegator, a secret alligator assistant who can help players in battle by picking up items, transforming props and calling in useful bonuses.
  • 3-Player Co-Op – Played in conjunction with the game’s co-op mode, Assist Mode lets up to three local players experience No Straight Roads’ music-based action together, only on Nintendo Switch.
  • Touchscreen Support – Use the Nintendo Switch system’s touchscreen to transform props and pick up items.
  • Single Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controller Play – Play through the entire game using a single Joy-Con, or pass the second Joy-Con to a friend to play in couch co-op.

In addition, the No Straight Roads Collector’s Edition, which features an exclusive double-sided vinyl LP with tracks from the game’s official soundtrack, a rockin’ 64-page ‘The Art of NSR’ artbook, official NSR drumsticks and a funky presentation box, will be available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 system.

“Fans have been asking for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One versions of No Straight Roads since day one, so we’re incredibly excited to bring the game to those platforms simultaneously with the PS4 and PC versions this June,” said Sarah Hoeksma, Marketing Director at Sold Out. “We can’t wait for players to embrace their inner rock star this summer with this musical adventure on their platform of choice.”

NSR developer Metronomik revealed the voice cast that will be appearing in the Japanese version of the game, as well as the composer.

First up, we have Ayane Sakura who will be co-starring as Mayday, one of the game’s main playable characters and guitarist of indie rock band Bunk Bed Junction. Sakura-san has lent her voice to many games and TV shows previously, but you might recognize her from Psycho-Pass and My Hero Academia.

We’re also excited to confirm Jun Fukuyama (Joker in Persona 5) will be co-starring as Zuke, Bunk Bed Junction’s drummer and the game’s second playable character. As well as playing Joker in Persona 5, Fukuyama-san has featured in many other games and TV shows, including Code Geass and Dissidia: Final Fantasy.

Joey Bizinger, aka YouTube’s The Anime Man, will also be playing the role of the ‘Music Elitist’, a supporting character that players will encounter while exploring the world of Vinyl City.

For the music, we’re collaborating with Masahiro “Godspeed” Aoki. He’s known to have been the composer of Final Fantasy XV: Comrades and the Sengoku Basara series, and the last part of the new No Straight Roads trailer features one of his pieces for the game.

No Straight Roads will be available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC (Epic Games Store) on June 30, 2020.
