'Beyond Blue' (ALL) Gets Pushed A Few Days - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on May 26, 2020 @ 10:57 a.m. PDT

Beyond Blue invites players to venture far below the surface of our vast and largely uncharted ocean to sense the soul of some of our world's most magnificent and intelligent creatures.

Beyond Blue is set in the near future and has players probing the mysteries of our ocean through the eyes of Mirai, the lead on a newly formed research team that will use groundbreaking technologies to see, hear, and sense the ocean in a more meaningful way than has ever been attempted. The game will involve both a rich story and resource management, challenging the player to make high-stakes decisions and prioritize which objectives can be successfully achieved during the crew's expedition.

Embracing the same inclusive development process that was used to create Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna), E-Line's BAFTA award-winning game about Alaska Native culture, the company paired world class game makers with some of the field's leading ocean experts to craft an experience that reflects the awesome wonder and unbounded mystery that infuses our planet's beating blue heart.

Originally planned for June 8th, E-Line Media has pushed Beyond Blue's launch back a few days, now set for June 11, 2020.

E-Line is celebrating the new date with the release of a new trailer for Ocean Insights, which takes players even deeper into the world of Beyond Blue.

Featuring footage from Blue Planet II, E-Line Media’s Ocean Insights are sixteen mini-documentaries that players unlock while they explore the Western Pacific. This new trailer teases what players can find and showcases some of the scientists that worked with the game developers to capture the experience of bringing the deep ocean to life.

Set against the near-future backdrop of Earth’s oceans, Beyond Blue features the scientific support of real-world exploration and outreach initiative OceanX, embracing its minimally invasive exploration techniques. It tells the story of a crew of scientists - Mirai, André, and Irina - who set out to test their “Ocean Sense Network,” which has the power to shine a literal light on the unexplored depths of the ocean as they unravel its endless mysteries.

The concept for the project grew from creative discussion between E-Line and BBC Studios during BBC's making of Blue Planet II, the groundbreaking nature series that has already reached millions of viewers around the world. The series highlights that there has never been a more crucial time to explore our remotest seas, and to examine what the future might hold for our blue planet.

Enabled by this partnership with BBC Studios, as they progress players will be able to unlock Ocean Insight videos that expand upon a moment of the game with stunning underwater footage from the Blue Planet II production, including never-before-seen footage.  Players will also meet the inspiring real-world ocean researchers who are laying the foundation for the exciting future depicted in the game.

E-Line is joined in its funding of the project by impact investors who share in a mission to help build lasting connections between people and the ocean, including OceanX, an initiative of Dalio Philantrophies, and David Haas (a leading philanthropist supporting media for impact).

Key Features:

  • An evocative narrative with full voice cast – Anna Akana (Ant Man, YouTube), Mira Furlan (Lost, Babylon 5), Hakeem Kae-Kazim (Black Sails, Hotel Rwanda), and Ally Maki (Toy Story 4)
  • Exploration and adventure within an untouched world
  • A captivating and entertaining soundtrack featuring an original score and music from Miles Davis, The Flaming Lips, The Edisons, and more
  • Sixteen unique mini-documentaries called Ocean Insights that feature original footage and interviews with science’s leading ocean experts

Beyond Blue will be available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on June 11, 2020.
