'Untitled Goose Game' (ALL) Gets Nintendo Switch And PS4 Retail Edition, Vinyl Soundtrack

by Rainier on July 20, 2020 @ 2:15 p.m. PDT

Untitled Goose Game is a slapstick-stealth-sandbox, where you are a goose let loose on an unsuspecting village.

Make your way around town, from peoples' back gardens to the high street shops to the village green, setting up pranks, stealing hats, honking a lot, and generally ruining everyone’s day.

It seems that people who live near geese have a very difficult relationship with them. Lots of people have told us that geese have chased them around the park, or that they have been honked at by a goose on their way home. We aren’t biologists. We can’t say why geese are like this. But it seems to us that being a goose and doing these things must be fun.

When you play the game, you are the goose. It is your job to do the things that geese do. To honk, to flap your wings, to crane your long white neck.

And of course, it’s also your job to make life difficult for the people around you. This means the goose will be stealing from people, honking at people, playing pranks and causing suffering. You are a bad goose.

iam8bit, in collaboration with Panic Inc. and House House, announced that Untitled Goose Game is coming to retail with a physical boxed edition for Nintendo Switch and PS4, as well as the game’s Vinyl Soundtrack, both scheduled for release on September 29, 2020.

The new boxed version, complete with exclusive collectible physical goodies for players, is available now for pre-order at retailers around the globe and Skybound.com. The “Lovely Edition”, (with premium recycled materials) is an iam8bit-exclusive version, and is also available for pre-order today on iam8bit.com.

To introduce more players to Untitled Goose Game beyond North America, including in Europe, Latin America, Australia/New Zealand and other territories, iam8bit has forged a strategic partnership with Skybound Games for global distribution of physical editions.

The standard boxed edition of Untitled Goose Game (Switch - $34.99; PS4 - $29.99) will include:

  • The game cartridge/disc for either Switch or PS4
  • A Spring/Summer edition of the Plaza Catalogue: a 24-page retail catalogue featuring useful items and objects that a goose might enjoy collecting
  • A 11" x 17" Village Map Poster, hand-illustrated by Melbourne-based artist and game developer, Marigold Bartlett
  • An extra sticky official “No Goose" Sticker

The iam8bit exclusive “Lovely Edition” of Untitled Goose Game will feature all of the above collectible goodies with an environmentally friendly twist:

  • Nintendo Switch ($39.99)
    • A 100% recyclable Outer Sheet, Booklet, and Foldout Poster

  • Eco-friendly shrink wrap called “Biolefin”

“We love physical games and vinyl. They’re not just cherished collectibles, but also cultural and archival artifacts,” said Amanda White and Jon Gibson, co-owners and co-creative directors of iam8bit. “We also recognize that we only have one planet, and over the last year, we’ve been diligent in developing better, eco-focused packaging and production techniques. Think of this as the ‘Alpha’ version of our ‘better for the planet’ packaging. Change doesn’t happen overnight, so we really wanted to start the conversation as a first step toward the goal of 100% eco-friendly packaging for physical games.”

The game takes place in a small village, full of characters who must live alongside this goose. They all just want to get on with their day. Imagine a groundskeeper tending to a local garden.

Enter the goose.

Now the groundskeeper’s life is miserable. The goose has taken the groundskeeper’s trowel. The groundskeeper can no longer work. The goose has turned on the sprinklers, and the groundskeeper is now wet. The goose that loves to steal has won and the groundskeeper has lost.

Key Features:

  • A horrible goose (that's you)
  • A town full of people just trying to get on with their day
    (you hate them)
  • A dedicated honk button (!!!)

Untitled Goose Game is currently available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One (Xbox Game Pass), and PC (Epic Games Store)
