Destiny 2 is a first-person action game that takes the player on an epic journey to defend humanity from annihilation.

Humanity’s last safe city has fallen to an overwhelming invasion force, led by Ghaul, the imposing commander of the brutal Red Legion. He has stripped the city’s Guardians of their power, and forced the survivors to flee. You will venture to mysterious, unexplored worlds of our solar system to discover an arsenal of weapons and devastating new combat abilities. To defeat the Red Legion and confront Ghaul, you must reunite humanity’s scattered heroes, stand together, and fight back to reclaim our home.

In Destiny 2, the last safe city on Earth has fallen and lay in ruins, occupied by a powerful new enemy and his elite army, the Red Legion. Every player creates their own character called a "Guardian," humanity's chosen protectors. As a Guardian in Destiny 2, players must master new abilities and weapons to reunite the city's forces, stand together and fight back to reclaim their home.

Earlier this year Bungie Community Manager Dylan Gafner teased by saying, "We’re excited for our community to play Destiny 2 on next-gen platforms. More details to come," and during today's Xbox Games Showcase Microsoft confirmed that Destiny 2 is indeed coming to Xbox Series X, as well as Xbox Games Pass.

During the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft announced that more gamers will be joining the legions of fans playing Destiny 2 by bringing it to Xbox Game Pass. If you are one of the more than 10 million Game Pass subscribers, you’ll get access to all current Destiny 2 expansions starting this September.

And when the standard edition of Destiny 2: Beyond Light is released, you’ll get that too.

Since Destiny 2 will be part of Xbox Game Pass, that means Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will have the ability to play Destiny 2 whenever and wherever they want on their phone or tablet, from the cloud. So if someone’s using the TV and you want to run your daily challenges or nab some Exotics from Xur, you’ll be able do so to thanks to cloud gaming, powered by Project xCloud.

Destiny 2 will also be joining the list of titles that are Optimized for Xbox Series X.

Running in 4K and at 60 frames per second, Destiny 2 on Xbox Series X will will also support cross-generation play and Smart Delivery, which will ensure that you always play the best version of Destiny 2, no matter which console you’re playing on.
