'Iron Harvest' (ALL) Introduces The Saxon Empire - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Aug. 14, 2020 @ 10:57 a.m. PDT

Iron Harvest is a real-time strategy game set in the world of 1920+, an alternate version of our own world where mankind, fascinated by technology, engines and iron, invented powerful walking machines.

Once mighty weapons on the battlefields of the Great War, they are now part of everyday life. Mighty factions fight for influence, while hidden forces are working towards the destabilization of Europe, determined to set the world on fire once again. Now, a few years after the Great War, secret forces are working towards the destabilization of Europe, determined to set the world on fire and seize control.

After World War 1 farmers found a plethora of unexploded ordnance, barbed wire, weapons, shrapnel and bullets while ploughing their fields. They called it the Iron Harvest.

You lead hero characters, mechs, and soldiers into battle. Cover mechanics and dynamic destruction play a major role in combat. Your squads take cover automatically, but a simple brick wall will only offer protection against small calibers, not against mech-mounted cannons. Throughout its open sandbox levels you have to find your own way to reach the goals set by the dynamic story line.

The Saxony Empire is one of the most influential countries in Europe, with powerful industry, developed cities, modern factories and a strong military tradition. After the unfavorable conditions of surrender in the Great War, the current mood in the Empire is bad, and proud elites and humiliated aristocrats secretly oppose the Emperor’s appeasement policies.

Deep Silver has demonstrated the formidable might of the Saxony Empire, industrial superpower and third playable faction in upcoming diesel-punk RTS Iron Harvest, via a glorious new video.

From versatile, fog of war-clearing artillery to hulking units harboring bombs that zip through trenches and across battlefields, Saxony forces can be quick to conquer their unfortunate opponents.

Having a history of being one of the most influential countries in Europe, the proud Saxony Empire is facing challenging times with its elites and aristocrats feeling humiliated after World War I. With wounded pride, but massive mechs, the Saxony Empire is driven to regain their honor on the battlefield.

Saxony mechs are often named after legendary characters and figures of old heroic tales and myths. And surely, looking at the tremendous firepower they bring to the battlefield, the Brunhilde, Eisenhans and Grimbart mech units live up to these dark fairytales. Though just like Achilles, every war machine may have a weak spot on its back.

Iron Harvest is currently hosting a Pre-Season / Open Beta available for free on Steam. RTS and Iron Harvest curious can join the Open Beta here.

Additionally, King Art and Deep Silver have teamed up with the ESL to bring competitive RTS gamers the very first Iron Harvest tournament. The “Pre-Season Cup” began on August 8, and will ramp up to a big finale at Gamescom 2020 with cash prizes awarded to the winners.

The next Pre-Season qualifier will be hosted on Saturday, August 15. More details, rules and how to sign up are here.

The Pre-Season will end and the official Season content will start on when Iron Harvest launches on September 1, 2020. Each Season will contain new game content such as skirmish and challenge maps and dedicated seasonal events for both single player as well as multiplayer content. Players will be able to rise through the ranks in multiplayer ladder matches and unlock unique cosmetic Season content by solving dedicated quests and challenges.

The Polania Republic is a large agricultural country with a long history. It is trying to maintain its status and territory, struggling with its aggressive neighbors: The Saxony Empire in the west and Rusviet in the east. Polania initiated a program to modernize its army while a large part of the country is still occupied by Rusviet forces.

Rusviet Rusviet is huge, powerful, and has unmatched industrial and population potential. However, the country is tired and worn out by the long war. People are frustrated, and the power of Tsar Nikolaj weakens. Mysterious Grigori Rasputin has become an extraordinarily powerful man and revolution is in the air...

1920+ was developed by Polish artist Jakub Różalski and earned him a cult-following because of his beautiful artworks painted in the style of the old masters.
