'The Division 2' (ALL) Reveals The Summit Mode, Backward Compatibility On PS5 And XSX With Cross-Play - Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 10, 2020 @ 12:02 p.m. PDT

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is a shooter RPG with campaign, co-op, and PvP modes that offers more variety in missions and challenges, new progression systems with twists and surprises, and fresh innovations that offer new ways to play.

Seven months have passed since a deadly virus hit New York City and the rest of the world, crippling the population. When the virus hit, The Division, a unit of civilian sleeper agents, was activated as the last line of defense. Since then, Division agents have been fighting relentlessly to save what remains.
For The Division, the stakes are higher than ever. Washington, D.C. – the most heavily protected city on earth – is at risk, leaving the entire nation on the brink of collapse. If Washington, D.C., is lost, then the nation falls. As a Division agent who has been in the field for seven months, you and your team are the last hope to stop the fall of society after the pandemic collapse.

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is an online open world, action shooter RPG experience set in a collapsing and fractured Washington, D.C. This rich new setting combines a wide variety of beautiful, iconic, and realistic environments where the player will experience the series' trademark for authenticity in world building, rich RPG systems, and fast-paced action like never before. Play solo or co-op with a team of up to four players to complete a wide range of activities, from the main campaign and adversarial PvP matches to the Dark Zone – where anything can happen.

Ubisoft announced that a new game mode is coming to Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Warlords of New York, “The Summit.”

The new mode is part of Title Update 11, which will go live on September 22. As part of TU 11, Season 3 will begin with a new manhunt, and major improvements will be made to the game’s core features. While The Summit and Season 3 are available for Warlords of New York owners, the game improvements will be available for all players.

The Summit (Warlords of New York Players)

Playing in squads or solo, The Summit will take Division Agents to a high-rise building, where they can scale up to 100 floors of action. Players will face different challenges and enemies on each floor as they progress toward the rooftop, where a special battle awaits. Using Rally Points (permanent checkpoints), players can also choose to focus on select sections of the building. This allows them to play at a preferred difficulty level and be rewarded accordingly for their efforts. The Summit will bring a new way to experience The Division in a single mode and offers high replayability as each attempt with be different. TU 11 will release on September 22 on all platforms for free.

Season 3 (Warlords of New York Players)

Also, on September 22, the third season of The Division 2 Warlords of New York will be available with a new manhunt. Players will target Bardon Schaeffer, the elusive leader of the Black Tusk as he recruits four disavowed agents to form and lead a new rogue cell. They will earn new gear and rewards as they progress through the season.

Seasons are part of the Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Warlords of New York expansion and are a series of three-month long narrative-driven mini campaigns.

Players can also expect a familiar face to return for Season 4. More information to come at a later date.

Major Improvements (All Players)

Core changes and major improvements will be introduced as part of TU 11. These changes were tested on the game’s Public Test Server from September 4 to September 10.

Main Title Update 11 improvements:

  • Appearance Mods – or Transmogrification – is a new system to the existing character menu for The Division 2. Players can change the appearance of their gear beyond the normal dye and coloration. Masks, backpacks, kneepads, gloves, holsters and all armor gear will be changeable. Appearance Mods will allow players to finally get the specialized look they always wanted or change the style of their setup.Appearance Mods will become a mainstay of the game for all players, Level 1-40.
  • The improved ‘Rainbow’ loot will bring an update on how gear is assigning the first attribute on a gear piece. The first attribute will now have a percentage chance to roll the same as the core attribute. Players will experience less rainbow loot, meaning that items for a skill brand (Wyvern) are more likely to roll a skill-related attribute.
  • With Agnostic Mod Slots, all gear pieces will change (mask, chest, backpack) to accept any gear mod type. This means players can add some armor regen into their pure red build without sacrificing a recalibration on the mod slot.

 Backward Compatibility

Today, The Division 2 also announced that the game will be backward compatible on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PS5, allowing you to play The Division 2 on the new generation of consoles. In addition, the game will be cross-play compatible with next-gen consoles. This means Agents on PS4 can battle it out with Agents on PlayStation 5. Players on Xbox One can also take on Agents on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

In Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Warlords of New York, Division Agents will go on the ultimate manhunt for Aaron Keener, a former Division Agent who has now gone rogue. Keener, along with his network of Rogue Agents, is now a major threat to the burgeoning rebirth of civilization. To track down Keener, Agents will roam the untamed living open world of Lower Manhattan; a former Dark Zone that was recently hit by a devastating hurricane that hit New York City harder than anywhere else in the US. Agents are tasked to explore new zones, each with iconic locations such as Two Bridges, Chinatown, and Wall Street. To get to Keener, players must take down each of his Rogue Agents.  Each Rogue Agent has their own unique back story and skill – which you gain once you take them down.

After taking the time to hear and gather community feedback, core gameplay enhancements have been implemented across various topics such as build diversity, gear streamlining and even more meaningful loot.

Along with The Division 2 Warlords of New York, Title Update 8 will include an RPG overhaul, allowing players to better read and manage their gear inventory. The UI screen will be updated to always show the roll ranges for each stat on a piece of gear or weapon. The overhaul also includes the return of god rolls, improving readability and helping players make better decisions on the gear’s usefulness to their build. Additionally, players will see a more streamlined gear recalibration system, with item and stat usefulness indicators, as well as permanent attribute and stat storage at the recalibration station. This will allow Agents the flexibility to plan the perfect build.

The existing Dark Zones in The Division 2 are also being revitalized, returning to a simpler rogue mechanic. The focus is on rewarding player-to-player interaction, whether it's fighting against each other or helping a fellow Agent against a tough Rogue player.

In The Division 2 Warlords of New York, the players’ level cap will increase from Level 30 to Level 40, but it doesn’t stop there. The Division 2 Warlords of New York is also introducing an infinite progression system, the SHD level, and 4 new skills that can be used throughout the game. Owners of the expansion will also get access to new gear and new weapons.

Warlords of New York is a narrative-driven expansion for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 and available on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Ubisoft’s subscription service UPLAY+.
