'There is No Light' (ALL) Kickstarter Campaign Fully Funded, Stretch Goals Available

by Rainier on Sept. 14, 2020 @ 1:13 p.m. PDT

There Is No Light is a pixel-art post-apocalyptic action/adventure where you explore a grim underworld and slay hordes of demonic creatures.

After the global catastrophe, the remains of the human civilization built a new religious society among the ruins of the desolated underground. They have forgotten the light of the sun and now are blindly following the New God — The Great Hand. Once in a few years, The Hand comes down to the people of the Central Station and takes away the chosen newborns to the world hidden behind the gates of the Sanctuary. The Hero embarks on a dangerous journey through the hostile world to find a way to open the gates and bring his child back.

Explore the game world, listen to the stories of survivors, vanquish hordes of bloodthirsty demonic creatures and fight deadly Bosses to fulfill your goal — save your child who has been taken away by the Church.

In the gameplay core of There Is No Light lies an aggressive fighting style. It resembles a deadly dance, where each mistake can be your last one and avoiding battle is not an option. The game features a Rage system, which builds up when damage is inflicted on enemies and the environment and the hero can use special abilities of weapons in order to gain an advantage in battle.

Developer Zelart and publisher HypeTrain Digital's There Is No Light kickstarter campaign has surpasses its initial $30,000 funding goal, and open up the stretch goals.

Two stretch goals for the campaign have been revealed: additional side quests in every location and Bestiary. The Bestiary goal includes concept arts of every creature, Boss, location, and race, beautifully drawn by our artists. Besides that, concepts will be provided with descriptions and additional lore. We'll be announcing new milestones as we reach the ones that are already set.

The playable demo features two in-game locations and a boss fight with giant Behemoth, who keeps a secret not many will discover. This demo version is quite big, bigger than some games out there, and it’ll take you around 2 hours to complete it: during your walkthrough you’ll be able to try 3 weapon types out of 4, build 3 skill trees and see the Karma system in action.

Key Features:

  • Non-linear Narrative. Create your own adventure by exploring the story and in-game world as you want it.
  • Four types of Magic and Bladed Weapons, each with unique abilities and skills to upgrade.
  • Filled with Rage. A Rage gauge builds up when damage is inflicted on enemies and the environment, allowing to slay your opponents quickly and efficiently.
  • Extraordinary Combat provided by rapid battle style, varieties of weapons, and hordes of otherworldly creatures.
  • Four unique in-game locations that were inspired by classic post-apocalyptic and dark fantasy visuals.
  • Varieties of dreadful Bosses that were designed to eliminate your character in various and brutal ways.
  • Numerous NPC each with unique story quests for you to maintain.
  • Karma system. Your actions and decisions will affect the state of the Underworld.

There Is No Light is in development for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC (Steam), scheduled for Q3 2021.
