'Ragnorium' Available On Steam Early Access - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 17, 2020 @ 2:17 p.m. PDT

Ragnorium is a planetary colonization simulator challenges explorers to establish and shape settlements across multiple eras on unproven, harrowing worlds.

Ragnorium is a planet recolonization simulator set in an alternative universe where the privatization of space exploration has led to the commoditization of clone colonists.

Ragnorium tasks players with leading a small group of cloned colonists on their pioneering journey into the harsh outer reaches of space, building a self-sustaining society while attempting to survive an oncoming Holy Crusade.

Progress through technological eras and enhance your colony with new mechanical marvels earned through activities including dispatch missions and colony milestones. Each accomplishment is another step towards the next leap in technology and progress.

Embedded with RPG mechanics, players are able to customize their colonists alongside the colony through experience, scavenged items, and crafting. Detail the skills of individual colonists as they journey through the hardships of your uncharted planet.

Delve into a innovative event system that drives your colony's story arch based on player choice and provides different paths forward based on the choices you make for your colonists.

Objectives give you a clear goal to work toward and reward success with progress along Research Levels and new areas of the planet to explore.

Stunning 3D rendered pixel art provides a distinct look to support the beautiful but harsh conditions of planetary colonization. Vast landscapes, intricate structures, and thousands of objects are rendered out in grimly beautiful detail.

The Steam Early Access launch introduces players to the base game loop of creating cloned colonists, preparing the dropships with cargo, and building out a base-level colony with a wide variety of materials and equipment from the first era of technology. Over time, new eras of technology will be added bringing new materials and equipment into the fold.

Ragnorium had been quietly available in ‘Earliest Access’ on Steam and only accessible through a direct link and not searchable on Steam. This two month run in a private release window allowed a few thousand players to test and provide feedback for updates to visuals, sound design, UI, and overall presentation before today’s debut to the wider Steam audience.

The launch into Steam Early Access marks the beginning of a content roadmap that will include more colonist types, planet maps, items, resources, characters and boss encounters. Developer Vitali Kirpu’s iterative design process lets Ragnorium benefit from rapid feedback and guidance from the community about the overall direction of the game and its mechanics - something that helped produce significant changes in the private Earliest Access phase.

The current plan is to remain in Early Access for 12 - 24 months depending on the implementation of some features like boss battles.

Ragnorium is in development for PC (Steam).
