'Disintegration' (ALL) Falling Apart As Multiplayer Shuts Down Mere Months After Launch

by Rainier on Sept. 17, 2020 @ 5:21 p.m. PDT

Disintegration is a sci-fi, first-person shooter that blends real-time tactical elements to create an entirely new experience.

Set on Earth in the near future, humankind’s only hope for survival is through Integration, a process in which the brain is transferred to a robotic armature. You play as Romer Shoal, a highly-skilled  Gravcycle pilot. Romer commands a small resistance force still grasping onto the fading memories of their human selves. With the domineering Rayonne forces set on eliminating the final remnants of human society, it’s up to Romer and his crew of Outlaws to fight back and reboot humanity.

Pilot a variety of weaponized Gravcycles over the course of the campaign while simultaneously commanding your crew on the ground. Learn to leverage a variety of unique unit abilities and master your own personal arsenal while dominating the battlefield.

In Disintegration, players will journey to the near future, when humankind is on the brink of extinction and turns to technology in their hope of survival. Through a process known as Integration, the human brain is removed and surgically encased into a robotic armature. A domineering enemy superpower known as the Rayonne emerges, driven mad by their newfound supremacy, and begin capturing what remains of humanity forcing them into robotic Integration.

We have made the difficult decision to remove Disintegration’s multiplayer modes from the game across all platforms. This will be done in phases over the coming months, starting today with the removal of the in-game store, and will conclude on November 17th with the full removal of multiplayer. The single player campaign will remain fully playable moving forward.

From both the development team at V1 Interactive and publishing group at Private Division, we stand by the creative risks taken to launch such a unique, genre-bending game created by this small but talented and passionate team. While our player base showed interest in the single player campaign, the game unfortunately struggled to build a significant audience necessary for a compelling multiplayer experience. After weighing options, we have collectively made the decision to sunset the multiplayer support.

We believe the video game industry needs constant innovation, and we will continue to take risks, follow creative visions, and support new ideas.

To everyone who has played Disintegration: we thank you.

-Private Division & V1 Interactive

Disintegration features a full single-player campaign where the player takes on the role of Romer Shoal, an expert in piloting a Gravcycle, a hovering quad-engine vehicle originally used for search and rescue missions that has been transformed into an armored chassis bristling with powerful weapons. Romer commands a small resistance force fighting to save what remains of humanity.

The game will also feature three different multiplayer game modes at launch, each with a variety of maps. These frantic team-based battles require smart coordination, utilizing ground units with individual abilities while simultaneously maximizing the destructive weapons on the Gravcycle. Players will choose from several Crews, each featuring a unique loadout and role in combat.

Disintegration is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One at $49.99.
