Hell Is Others is a rogue-like meets farming shooter set in a city where blood and bullets are currency.

You’ll play as Adam Smithson, a man with little memory as to how he’s come to be in a place called Century City. Upon waking up, he realises a Magnolia Bonsai has been placed in his apartment but has no idea as to how it got there. Noticing the plant requires nurturing, you must journey out into the city; but with only a short time until curfew, you must act hastily to ensure you get what you need.

To add to the tense nature of Hell Is Others, while adventuring around the city you’ll encounter The Things; an enemy of unknown origin and other players (known as The Others) on the same journey, and whether you leave these players be or fight them to gain their supplies is up to you, but if you’re not back home within the limited time window, you’ll be committed to the ground to become what you really need, Blood. During the tense, multiplayer driven cycles of survival exploration, you’ll be required to use all of Adams senses to finally make it home, from his impeccable sense of sound to detect where enemies may be, to his heightened sense of sight.

Blood in Hell Is Others is a currency that has not only the means to outfit your apartment with the most wanted items, but also feeds the plants in your collection so they grow into full blown bullet machines. Each plant will grow a certain type of bullet which can be used either to defend yourself from The Others (or other players), or be used as a currency in itself with certain vendors.

“We believe that the game's core mechanics are solid and entertaining. We aim to create new ways to expand the interactions within the players, add the personalization of the house, add the mortgage system, expand the multiplayer functionalities like play with friends. All with the support and direction of the community.”

“The main features of the game, such as the gameplay and the visual aspects, are already polished and well working. Now, with the community feedback, it's time to bring the final pieces together and create a fully multiplayer experience. At home, you can manage your players, your items and grow your plants. Outside you can gather resources as blood, bullets, furniture and consumables. You are also able to expand the city and shops while fighting against other players! Hell is Others is still in active development, so keep in mind you may encounter some bugs and some features could be changed along the road. Enjoy the ride with us :)”

As part of the Early Access launch, Strelka and Yonder will frequently update the title with further updates until its full launch.

Key Features:

  • The outside world is filled with unknowns and evils. The Things stalk every alleyway, shop door entrance and crosswalk, waiting for the perfect time to strike and rip away the valuable blood in your veins to survive, while The Others want it for a different purpose, along with all the precious items you’ve collected on your run.
  • The Things aren’t the only entities that should be feared in Century City. Stalking the same pathways you do are monsters that feel familiar to Adam, close yet so distant, maybe The Others are just like you. As fast as predator can become prey, make sure you’re using all of Adams senses to stay on top of the food chain.
  • In the dystopian world that Adam survives in, Blood isn’t only something that feeds his precious Magnolia Bonsai and the rest of his plant collection, but collect enough from Things or Others and you’ll be able to exchange it for hard cash at the Bank.
  • Ensuring your plants grow big and healthy means a constant supply of blood is needed, but what if there was a way to grow different crops? What if enhancing crops yields better results? Only time, patience and dedication will show you what is possible in Hell Is Others.
  • Outfit Adams' apartment with an array of new appliances to change his crumbling home into a castle for a king. A new cooker, refrigerator or oven can make all the difference in how a home feels alongside being used for a multitude of purposes; and maybe the vendors will have something new every day for the right price.
  • Century City seems to change every time Adam enters its ghastly grip. Explore to your heart’s content but be warned; if you lose the way home, you might just end up losing what’s in your pockets.

Hell Is Others launches on Steam Early Access for in 2021 with a full launch scheduled for Winter 2021.
