Made for gamers who’d love a platformer with a strong storyline, where you can talk with characters, solve side quests, find and buy items, change weapons and wearables, with great hand-drawn-looking backgrounds… All of that presented in a very comical way!
In a village far, far away, a dull peasant named Rufus was living an ordinary life. The boss of the house was his wife, Brunilde, a boisterously smart and funny woman that you wouldn’t exactly call “pretty”. Life was nice and happy in the village, until one day, awakened by some magical mistake, the Evil One started to spread his minions around town, performing hideous acts against the people. The worst of which was the kidnapping of Brunilde. She was torn from Rufus’ hands and put in a prison at the Evil One’s castle. Transformed into a blondie duck-faced doll girl, she now spends all her time staring at herself in a small handheld mirror.
Determined to win her back, Rufus made a helmet out of a bucket and picked a broom as a weapon. Everybody now calls him the CLUNKY HERO, but he might be the only hope to defeat the evil one that no one wants to call by name. Rufus is now on his journey to save his wife and the whole village!
Chaosmonger announced that Clunky Hero will be available through Steam Early Access on November 9th, and will be available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
“It's pretty much the full game, but with minor bugs and various things to be polished and improved. We are also curious to hear the feedback of the players and improve our game afterwards. Furthermore, between the Early Access and the Full Version, we'll be releasing patches to fix Clunky Hero's bugs.”
“The full version will be bug-free, more polished and improved (also following the players feedback). There'll be 3 save slots instead of 1 and more options to customize the game (for instance to customize inputs, to activate or deactivate visual effects such as the "shake" on hitting enemies, and so on...).”
Besides the initial broom, there are a minimum of 6 different weapons that Rufus can use during his journey. Some are secret loot to be found in the remote corners of the many levels that he must explore during the adventure, some others are sold at high prices in various shops throughout the land and some he must win by defeating a boss. We don’t want to spoil all of the surprises, but here’s a few to check out…
The Evil One’s minions cover a wide range of clumsy foes. From the Vegan Zombie and the Monthly Ghost, to the One-Legged Frog and the Sober Man, they provide a great challenge to Rufus despite their clumsiness. To save his beloved Brunilde, the CLUNKY HERO must defeat over 30 different kinds of them.
Clunky Hero is coming to PC (Steam) in 2022.
