Breakwaters evolves the way you interact with water. Swim, sail, and fly to find new islands with unique resources to build, craft, and survive. Play solo, or join friends online to explore, build a home to defend, defeat massive Titans, and bring calm to the waves.
Solo or with friends, players explore a procedural world with dangerous ocean depths and nearby islands while battling or avoiding terrifying Titans. Artifacts from a dead civilization beneath the waves, these massive monsters constantly roam the world, causing destruction. Can you earn the right to become a Breakwater and stop the Titans?
Surrounded by a sea of mysteries and possibilities, one of the first things players will notice in Breakwaters is that water behaves differently here. Powerful crystals are used to displace water and reveal resources to harvest and quests to complete. Different strategies, such as building walls to contain the ocean or block waves, are key to rebuilding and helping the world recover from the constant chaos inflicted by Titans.
Breakwaters is designed for three different types of players: Homesteaders, Explorers, and Adventurers. This means players enjoy many different play styles, such as building, farming, combat/action, adventure and more. There’s something for everyone—casual players who enjoy life-sims can chill on the beach to harvest resources, while players who crave action and adventure can battle massive Titans that plague an otherwise peaceful world.
Initially planned for November 11, Indie studio Soaring Pixels Games announced that Breakwaters Steam Early Access launch has been delayed until December 9, 2021.
“We’re thrilled to see how much fun fans are having with single-player and online co-op during our closed beta, and we’re very excited for launch. But, based on some reports where players are running into critical online bugs, we have made the difficult decision to delay until December 9, 2021. Launching this month would not give fans the quality experience they deserve, and this is not what we want for Breakwaters,” said Soaring Pixels owner, Phillip Heckinger.
“This extra time gives us the opportunity to investigate and test networking issues with the community. A bonus result is that it will allow the team time to improve the item-upgrade and mission content, meaning more content will be available at launch.”
