Edgeworks Entertainment Announces Untitled New Sci-Fi Game

by Rainier on Feb. 9, 2021 @ 8:55 a.m. PST

TerraGenesis developer Edgeworks Entertainment announced that it is working on an untitled new game, working title Project Perihelion.

From the creators of TerraGenesis comes a portal
to a new horizon.

A relic on the fringes of the Kuiper Belt, it stands wide enough
for a dozen ships to pass through at once.

Where it leads, no one knows.
Who is waiting on the other side... we need you to find out.

Currently referred to as Project Perihelion, the game’s announcement comes in the form of a mysterious trailer and website with cryptic messaging. Interested parties are asked to submit their email address to receive updates on the game’s development, framed as updates about the status of an alien hyperspace gate.

Edgeworks Entertainment is best known for their hit mobile terraforming simulator, TerraGenesis. Using real NASA science, TerraGenesis allows players to terraform barren worlds like the Moon, Mars, and beyond into new homes for humanity. First released in 2016, TerraGenesis has been translated into 12 different languages and downloaded over 20 million times.

“From the creators of TerraGenesis comes a portal to a new horizon,” the website states. “A relic on the fringes of the Kuiper Belt, it stands wide enough for a dozen ships to pass through at once. Where it leads, no one knows. Who is waiting on the others side… we need you to find out.” The site features a graphic of a swirling space gate and states that its status is currently unknown.

“After the incredible success of TerraGenesis, I am so excited to be developing our next property. Fans of TerraGenesis are going to love Project Perihelion, which will allow them to experience an entirely different side of space exploration,” says Alexander Winn.

“We don’t have much information to share currently,” says Marketing Manager Heather Johnson Yu. “Those who sign up for email updates will receive uniquely crafted information about Project Perihelion’s development. We’re very excited to share what we can, when we can, with players.”
