'Before We Leave' Gets Steam Release Date - Trailer

by Rainier on March 24, 2021 @ 8:00 a.m. PDT

Before We Leave is a calming take on rebuilding a post-apocalyptic world by traveling to other lands and eventually planets to rebuild each civilization.

In Before We Leave, players take on the role of a leader of tribes people who were cave dwellers forced underground because of uncontrollable disasters, only to emerge generations later with wonder and curiosity. Players are tasked with rebuilding civilization and expanding their reborn society to other continents and eventually other planets.

Rebuild civilization by building huts, harvesting… potatoes and expanding your reborn society to other continents and eventually other planets. Manage resources, discover ancient tech and create a planetary network of colonies to thrive in your solar system.

Throughout the game, resource management is key to thrive in the solar system as it will lead to discovering ancient tech and creating a planetary network of colonies. However, the universe is not fully safe. Ancient world guardians require attention and impose challenges on your cities and planets. The new worlds you discover and inhabit were previously destroyed by the disasters that drove your people underground, and those catastrophes will punish poorly managed civilizations.

Developer Balancing Monkey Games announced its non-violent, civilization-building title Before We Leave is coming to Steam on May 14, 2021.

Previously an Epic Games Store exclusive, this hit indie city builder will be coming to Steam with all of its content updates and patches, available to all players.

Since the game’s launch in May 2020, Before We Leave has included a vast amount of additional content for its players at no extra cost. This includes the following updates:

  • The Kraken Comes - An update bringing submarines, trading ships, the Kraken guardian, and underground shelters.
  • Over & Under - An update rolling out new overlays for better experiences, new UI and UX, new languages, and more.
  • Paving the Way - A visual upgrade, new roads, new resources, new type of Warehouse, new effects, and more.
  • Biomes & Beasties - Three new island biomes, new visuals, inclusion of animals, discoverable secrets, and more.
  • Upcoming update - Upon the game’s Steam launch in May, Before We Leave will be introducing new Scenarios and Weather that affects fatigue, crop growth, and movement speed.

In Before We Leave there are no weapons or battles for control of resources. However, players may perish at the flippers of vast planet-gobbling space whales that graze worlds and threaten civilizations. Aside from that, this title brings a serene, scenic and relaxing atmosphere for players to unwind and build society however they choose to.

Play, chill out, and expand the fabric of your reborn society at your own pace and create your own solar system of rehabilitated planets. Just watch out for those pesky gigantic intergalactic plankton-feeders.

Key Features:

  • Build settlements for the newly emerged Peeps
  • Discover and research the ancient technologies around you
  • Manage resources, pollution and happiness to avoid the mistakes of your ancestors
  • Trade between your settlements by sea and by space
  • Explore six unique biomes on islands of all shapes and sizes
  • Protect the Peeps from ancient beings that guard the galaxy

Currently available on the Epic Games Store, Before We Leave will launch for PC (Steam) on May 14, 2021 for $19.99.
