'Synergia' (ALL) Comes To Playstation Vita Next Week

by Rainier on April 19, 2021 @ 8:52 a.m. PDT

Synergia is a cyberpunk visual novel exploring sexuality, philosophy, and the meaning of being human.

Synergia is a traditional visual novel style game but features short, interactive segments, as well as short theatrical animations. It departs from the traditional anime aesthetics of most visual novels, and opts to blend anime-inspired visual styles with unique western influences, with incredibly meticulous attention to details.

The story follows Cila, a veteran cop with a sour outlook and anger issues, who expects nothing more from life besides the smell of ozone, blinding neon lights and the ever-present manhole steam. At least, until a shady friend replaces her broken-down housedroid as a favor. Advanced, more efficient and remarkably perceptive unit M.A.R.A. begins to penetrate Cila's toughened exterior and possibly even heal her new owner's old wounds – if Cila can decipher the recurring nightmare the process brings. Soon Cila and Mara forge a unique - if sometimes uneasy - bond. Unbeknownst to Cila, just as her life begins to find its new normal, the technological giant Velta Labs gets wind of Mara's existence and takes a mysterious interest in the android. A war unlike any before it is brewing on the horizon, its players are silently being selected and one android's fate may spell the difference between peace, war, the blossoming of a new religion, or a technological singularity beyond comprehension.

Unlike some visual novels, Synergia does not feature adult content, but deals with mature themes and contains content not suitable for some audiences. The demo features the introduction to the story, following the first few chapters and leading up to the first major event; it places between 0.5 - 1 hours in length, and helps introduce the characters and the world as well as the overall art and atmosphere.

After extensive discussions and technical conversations with Sony Interactive Entertainment, Top Hat Studios, Inc. has secured what may be the last ever releases for the Playstation Vita platform.

Currently available for Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC (Steam or Itch.io), Synergia is coming to Playstation Vita on April 27, 2021 with cross-buy available for the PS4 versions of the games (also available on PS5 via backwards compatibility).

Synergia will continue to be available for just under 4 months - up until the point of final closure for the PS Vita store; this digital release comes following a previously released limited physical edition for both titles, each of which sold out in under a day. Unfortunately, due to technical limitations with PEGI and the SIEE Vita storefront services, these releases will be digital-only for the NA and Asia regional Playstation Stores.

Key Features:

  • Enjoy a mature romance between two women in an otherwise bleak dystopian future.
  • Live a thrilling non-linear story where your choices will lead Cila and M.A.R.A. to multiple endings – complete them all to enjoy a secret epilogue! Each round will take you from 6 to 9 hours to finish it.
  • Cross your path with more than 20 unique characters that will influence Cila’s journey.
  • Explore the relationship between human emotions and technology through their point of view.
  • Discover a beautiful, vibrant art style which pervades the neon, cyberpunk set-ting of the game.
  • Unlock about 100 different combinations of scenes and CGs.
  • Feel inside this dystopian future thanks to an immersive OST by Andy Andi Han, who previously worked on Katawa Shojo, Ova Magica and Sense: A Cyberpunk Ghost Story.
