'Apex Legends' (ALL) Season 9: Legacy - Valkyrie's Abilities - Trailer

by Rainier on April 29, 2021 @ 12:55 p.m. PDT

Set in the Titanfall universe, Apex Legends is a free to play battle royale game with a cast of unique characters, squad-based gameplay, innovative mechanics and more.

Apex Legends delivers a squad-based battle royale experience with a uniquely Respawn flavor. Players will select from one of eight Legends - each with their own unique abilities and playstyles - and the last team standing wins. Combatants can choose from unique characters like Bloodhound, the tracker who can see recent enemy activity on the map, or Lifeline, a battlefield medic who can shield teammates and bring them back from the brink of death. Balanced squads and teamwork are critical, as each Legend is easy to pick up and learn, but challenging to master.

Apex Legends showcases several new genre-leading innovations, starting before players even start the match. Once players are ready to begin, they’ll choose their drop point with the Jumpmaster system, giving each squad full control over exactly where they drop in. Is it smarter to head straight for the most valuable loot and risk early conflict with other teams, or make for one of the outlying areas to plot an attack and let other squads pick each other off?

On May 4, Apex Legends: Legacy lands with a new permanent 3v3 mode, high-flying Legend Valkyrie, a new weapon, map updates and more.

It’s time for a whole new set of Apex Games.

Apex Legends Season 9: Legacy will add a new Legend, Valkyrie, the ultimate wing-woman and daughter of Apex Predator, Viper. Determined to carve her own path, and with her swarm of unique abilities, Valkyrie is ready to make history and have everyone in the Apex Games remember her name. Get a look at the new jetpack flying Legend’s new abilities as she takes her fight to new heights in today’s vignette trailer.

From her passive to ultimate, Valkyrie’s abilities soar in Legacy:

  • Passive: VTOL Jets - Use Valkyrie’s jetpack to reposition or reach high places when scouting out foes. Jet fuel will be limited, but refills over time
  • Tactical: Missile Swarm - Fire a swarm of mini-rockets that damage and disorient the enemy
  • Ultimate: Skyward Dive - Take to the skies to reposition long distances across the map with the option for squadmates to join in.

A breakdown of all the new content in Apex Legends: Legacy includes:

  • New 3v3 Mode - Arenas: In Arenas, players will sharpen their skills in the tight confines of new and rotating maps like Party Crasher and Phase Runner. Each round, win or lose, teams can play to their strengths as they pick a new loadout; players can also earn and spend Crafting Materials to improve options between rounds. In addition, Arenas will feature dedicated events and prizes, as well as help players gain Battle Pass levels.
  • New Legend - Valkyrie: With a jetpack forged from the remnant’s of Viper’s Northstar Titan, Valkyrie can momentarily fly above the battlefield, and when it’s time to swoop in for the kill, she can unleash a swarm of missiles to damage and disorient her enemy. If things get too hot, Valkyrie can easily employ her Ultimate to make a fast skyward escape -- bringing her entire squad with her if they hook in.
  • New Weapon - The Bocek Bow: A powerful and deadly weapon, the new Bocek Bow is capable of inflicting tremendous damage for those skilled enough to wield it. Players will need to take well-timed shots to make it count, and to get the most out of the bow by charging shots for maximum impact. No ancient relic, the Bocek Bow lets players increase its effectiveness with two hop-up slots -- the Deadeye’s Tempo, which allows a faster draw when firing at a perfect tempo, and Shatter Caps, which make arrows burst when fired, spreading out like a shotgun blast.
  • Olympus Map Updates: Things are about to get interesting on Olympus as a rogue ship has docked on the map, bringing with it a viscous, parasitic plant of unknown origin. The infestation will offer new drop locations, changed lines of sight and more to this Arena in the sky.

Apex Legends: Legacy also features a new Battle Pass offering unique rewards like Apex Packs, XP Boosts, as well as trove of new weapon and Legend skins when it launches on May 4 for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Origin and Steam).

The innovations don’t stop there as Apex Legends also delivers Respawn Beacons, one-time use locations where defeated teammates can be revived, a contextual Ping communication system that allows players to call out enemies, weapons, locations and more with the push of a button, and an intelligent inventory system which automatically attaches gear and equipment to the appropriate weapons once players pick them up. All together it creates a battle royale experience unlike any other, complete with Respawn’s commitment to top-notch quality and fun.

Apex Legends is now available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
